LA County to require vaccination or negative Covid test for Six Flags Magic Mountain and Universal Studios Hollywood

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Los Angeles County’s chief public health officer said Wednesday, Sept. 15, that the county will amend its health order this week to require “targeted” vaccine verification at outdoor mega events and certain businesses, including theme parks, warning that the region will face “endless cycles” of coronavirus surges every few months without more vaccine coverage across the region.

Good.

Orange County, California I would guess.

Interesting. Is there a reason Knotts Berry Farms isn't in this as well? I somehow think this will be real interesting to manage at Magic Mountain.

Because they aren’t in Los Angeles County. They’re in Orange County

Will add time to the entrance security protocol, but Cal has a state sponsored digital vaccine mechanism, so show the QR code and your ID and you’re good to go.

as for the Covid test part of this, don’t care. Stand in a crowded bullpen In the heat for an extra hour, nmfp.

Ah, did not realize that, not being from CA.

It'll never happen in Orange County (Disneyland and Knott's) unless the state forces them to. This may well be enough to get me to go to Halloween Horror Nights, which I was waffling on, and makes me more confident about finally restarting my Magic Mountain membership. Thank you LA Health Dept!

This is interesting. Are these the first major US parks that will be requiring the vaccination (or a - test)?

I think it's important to note that they don't have a choice in the matter.

Hopefully they'll be smart about this and will recognise certificates issued by other jurisdictions. I had a minor challenge with that during my recent trip.

I find it humorous that vaccine mandates are being implemented with no common system in place nationwide other than a card stock item with some numbers and dates scribbled on it. It’s almost like that could very easily be forged.

Which has already happened, along with the bogus vaccination exemption cards. The last person that I worked with before I retired last winter had gotten one of the latter off the internet. Last I checked he was still on the payroll, which somewhat surprised me.

I was at Magic Mountain in May and they barely glanced at the "paper" reservation I had in my hand. At Disneyland, people were nicely spaced, at MM they were practically jumping on our backs. Different crowds and standards, I should know that by now.

It's the adult version of "change the grade on your report card before you take it home to your parents"

Of course that was back when your report card was handwritten and with a little creativity a 'D' could turn into a 'B' if you had the same pen.

It’s no different than content controls regarding piracy, or even boarding an airplane. These measures and security protocols don’t serve to do very much to resolve the issue, as they do to inconvenience the honest people who want to do the right thing.

I was at a park the other day, and had to play security theater and I found an extremely easy loophole to bring absolutely anything contraband related into the park I desire.

If you aren’t going to do it right, don’t bother doing it at all.

I think you grossly overestimate the number of people willing to make a convincing forged card. If it was happening with any frequency, I think we would see a lot fewer punched hostesses.

That's because Trump and his cronies politicized it and prevented it

It’s too bad they just can’t use that there chip that was planted in everyone that got the shots.
