Knotts new ride - CoasterBuzz

How could there be head banging on Perilous Plunge? Thy only have wird seat things, no OTSR's. What are you talking about?

I am almost possitive this is Knott's new ride, I know a real high up in the coaster communtity, they have written articles in ACE's magazine and does some important work for Knott's Berry Farm.
The ride will be a complete circut coaster called "Grease" from Intamin using a hyraling launch system. It will have a 205 ft tall top hat inversion and will be heavily themed and have 2 trains. It will be in time for 2002 I'll assure you that, look for an annoucment after or near the end of KSF. Possibly coaster scolcious though.

Oh no, if it has a top hat, isn't it California standards to have an otsr, but I was informed that it would just have a lap bar, so maybe just no top hat, and I heard it was going to be called "Beach Cruiser". It is also going to be VERY theamed

Greezed Lightning has no OTSRs. Neithier does Monte.

I think he was talking about an earlier post in which someone stated that any coaster with an inversion in California (a top hat is an inversion) had to have OTSR. But as people have pointed out numerous times, there are coasters in California that have inversions and only have a lap bar. I have no idea if the law exists, and if it does, what it says. But if it does exist, it could state something along the order that all NEW coasters with inversions must have OTSR. But like I said, I'm just speculating, I live thousands of miles away from CA and really don't care about their local laws.

The ride will have a top hat inversion, and will not have OTSR. When will this myth about state law end? It's never been the case.

Pretty soon it will become a self fulfilling prophecy...

Why would Knott's get a launched coaster when they already have montezooma's revenge? That doesn't make sense.

I wrote this in another post, but I guess I have to put it here too.
Find me the exact section of California law citing the neccessitation of OTSR's on a coaster that performs inversions.
Then I would be more than happy to hear what you have to say on the subject.
Otherwise, lets end this rumor.
Its just not worth repeating anymore!

Only looping coasters in Los Angeles County are required to have OTSR. That explains why The Revolution has to run with OTSR, while Monte doesn't (Knott's is in Orange County).

well California Screamin is in Orange Couynty, with a very small loop, and it has otsr

It is NOT going to be 300 ft. James Disney has even said that the new coaster "Will not be a hyper." Just in case you don't know sfmmrider, a hyper is 200 ft. Hence, the new coaster WILL be under 200 ft. PERIOD!

I haven't ride the Perilious Plunge, but to me, It seems like a great ride, the best water ride ever...I don't think I should be pulled out...Even if the ride is rough, I don't think is even a little thing close to Windjammer...I rode Windjammer some years ago, and that can't even be called painfull, is a lot worse than that, I'm so happy they're going to make something else there, and believe me, an Intamin Giga-coaster, would be the BEST thing they could make...That would be a great, great, great coaster...

It WILL NOT HAVE A TOPHAT WITH ONLY LAP BARS the Batman side of Chiller is going to be the only coaster with a tophat and lap bars next season.

Actuall Medusafanatic, it will. But I'm sure Intamin will call it something else. And it will have only lap bars.
