Knotts Coaster Solace 2004 dates!

lori-check the message boards at www.travel2vegas.com for tons of hotel reviews. I'm off to Vegas tonight at am staying at the Flamingo...which is supposed to have a fabulous pool area, though the rooms get mixed reviews. I also stayed at Stardust on a previous trip and liked it very much...it's older and on the north (read: boring) end of the strip...but it was clean, cheap, had a very nice pool area, and Wayne Newton! :)
Gee, Dawn goes to Vegas a lot. I'm thinkin' "gambling problem".

Don't you have some muggles to go terrorize, Voldemort?

I've got two crazy friends that tell me they can't afford to go to Solace, but then tell me they want to go. I tell them I can't go unless I come across a large sum of money. They tell me I should go anyway. Why are friends so frustrating?

Hey, I needed my Canyon Blaster credit!

Dawn-home with $250 left :)

That puts the main event at Sunday? I hope not but it kinda sounds that way to me. That may just kill the possibility of me going. I really don't want to do a long Sunday like that and have to go to work the next day (vacation time isn't going to be an option, either).

For now, I'll just wait and see.

I'm also in the "wait and see" camp. I really enjoyed Solace last year, but need to budget my travel time and costs. I'll have to see what the status of Disney looks like, for one thing -- I get to California infrequently enough that I'd want to hit other parks.

This is probably going to be my first coaster event, so woohoo!! Quick questions from someone who's never done this before -- What is needed to register for the event? Will they have a registration period starting sometime in the future (if so, I imagine it'll be posted here). What are the costs like? If you live close-by (45 minutes or so, I live in the San Fernando Valley for those familiar with the area), is it worth it to stay at the Radisson as opposed to just driving back and forth each day?

Thanks, and I'm looking forward to my first event!

Tom,

The registration details will be announced before the event, usually about a month or so before-hand. It will more than likely be posted here. If the process is the same as in the past, you have the choice of pre-registering for the event via fax/snail mail, or registering for the event at Knotts on the morning of.

As for the Radisson deal, I highly recommend it, for the following reasons:

1. Most of the ERTs either start early or run late. It's nice to have a bed nearby when you get out of the park at 1 am, and it's extra nice to have the park be a short walk away at 7 am versus an hour long drive. I live in Simi Valley, and I've done the Rad deal the last two years.

2. The Radisson deal historically includes some great perks. In the past, Radisson peeps have enjoyed extra two-hour long Friday night ERT sessions on Ghostrider (2002) or Xcelerator (2003), as well as some great banquet meals (with host bar). Additionally, there are usually some cool freebie giveaways too, like the Ghostrider teddy bears we all got last year.

3. Having a nearby room is also good for mid-day napping, which becomes essential after a day or two of late night/ early morning ERTs. The Radisson is easily the nicest hotel close to Knotts, and the price for the package (when you include the ERT, meals, etc.) is very competitive.

I recently stayed at the Radisson (thanks to Moosh's coupon) during my last trip to SoCal. Next time I'm back I won't stay anywhere else. It's great, reasonably priced, and you certainly can't ask for a much better view out your window than the back half of GhostRider.

Of course it wasn't one of those coupons; they have all expired and the owner said he doesn't intend to *put out* anymore...

I will be staying at the Raddison myself. I stayed out there on my recent SoCal trip and I cant see staying anywhere else. Great service, great deals, and oh so close to the park. Just walk out the back door and you are a few hundred feet away from the California MarketPlace.

This message brought to you by the United Nap Council....
For those of you in the area, how close is La Palma? Even though I would prefer to stay at the Raddison, we have a free night at a LaQuinta that expires at the end of next March. I found a LaQuinta in La Palma that says it's close to KBF. Just wondering how "close".

Another question for the locals. At that time of year, SFMM is only open on the weekends correct? They don't have their schedule out for March yet, so I'm going on memory.

Mucho thanks.

Lori - SFMM will be open only on weekends.
Thanks for the advice BaSSiStiSt, chances are I'll be staying at the Radisson then. Are there usually some vacancies at the time of the event, or is it a good idea to book a room early?
