Knott's Berry Farm announced the addition of a new B&M inverted roller coaster, called Silver Bullet, to open on Christmas Eve, 2004. The $16 million ride will have 3,125 feet of track, be 146 feet tall with a first drop of 109 feet and six inversions.
Read the press release from Business Wire.
CP's collapsed in the dead of a cold winter with major winds after removing the cable. VertiGo would never have that kind of weather and would never have the cables removed for storage because KBF is a year round operation.
Antuan sez:
I would think that California's "unstable ground" problem would prove to be just as dangerous and Lake Erie's wintry winds ;)
Or am I mistaken about the metal defect?

You may be right, but I honestly don't remember hearing (reading) that.
For instance the Soap Box Derby Racers were removed just for WindJammer. I'm not talking about what is there now, I am talking about the original reason why it was removed. And that's ALL imma say about this. Thank goodness they fixed it by placing Xcellerator there.
The Haunted Shack:
Removed for the S&S Drop Ride. Whic was removed shortly after construction and the only good thing that has been there is "The Curse of the Spider" maze for Halloween Haunt. Other than that, the area is used as a picnick area. A Very great waste of space since Knott's has SO MANY eating areas.
KOD Modifications:
It is not because the cars move while going through the station continuously, because take a look at the Haunted Mansion rideS and Muholland Madness (WILD MOUSE COASTER) , they move through the station. Oh yeaa and that Heartline Coaster at SF AstroWorld. The reason for this is so that people don't get out of the cars during the ride and tamper with the dinosaurs, props and scenery. And if you notice in the very last car of each train, there is an employee there keeping an eye on everyone. I asked a employee when they first did this and that is what they told me.
There's a little better rendering of the ride. The first drop does look pretty drawn out...But I this *might* not be so dull to me, considering I really enjoyed Revolution's long drop into the loop.
Haunted Shack was not removed so that Verti-Go! could be built, it was an old attraction that did not meet state regulations for disabled and wheelchair-bound guests. Since the attraction could not be modified, it was removed. Sad, yes...but I have faith that Knotts will build something good there in the future [Western-themed Sally dark ride, please!]

That is the exact same rendering of the ride, they just took that animated drawing and placed it over an aerial photo of the park. :)
That's the misconception people have about The Haunted Shack. It was first dismantled, and the park found a replacement for the empty spot (the SkyFun1 SkyCoaster, which was announced, and abondon plan because of Magic Mountain then onto the S&S Abso'Insane). It wasn't removed because a new attraction had to go in. It was removed because there were safety/upkeep/regulation reasons behind taking it out.
Soggy -
The way you talk about Perilous Plunge's problems seems as if you're making it out to be Cedar Fair's fault. The ride came faulty out of Intamin's hands - and it wasn't the first time Intamin delivered a lemon - impressive, but still a lemon. For example - Superman The Escape, Volcano The Blast Coaster, and even their hyper-coasters have had numerous problems and have required modifications and it was out of the park's control the way they operated.
And the KOD modifications, it was for both preserving the props within the attraction and for limiting the risk of guest injury with moving ride vehicles while boarding/exiting. So what if Disneyland operates Haunted Mansion the same way, this is Knott's and they make separate management descisions.
Lift, 180 degree, standard inverted, twisting drop into loop. Then into an overbanked 90 degree turn which leads into a cobra roll. You then enter a zero-g roll which leads directly into a 270 degree turn. You then take a corkscrew (to the left), take a turn into another corkscrew (to the right) and then into a 540 degree upward helix into the brakes.
This looks like a hit. This is a unique inverted coaster, which we have not seen in a couple years. I love it.
I'll admit it, I loved Haunted Shack. I don't caare what reasons caused it to leave, I miss that attraction. Cedar Fair or no Cedar Fair.
KOD, if the reasons you state are true, than it's 100% on Cedar Fair, not the state of California. It operated just fine under the Knotts'. Thanks for proving my point for me.
Soap-Box Derby Racers had become a maintenance nightmare and experienced a lot of downtime at the end of its run. The ride's removal had nothing to do with Windjammer.
Please. It wouldn't have been hard to fix this ride. While it did go down regularly, that was always the case and due to the horrible blocking control system on it which gave "discrepencies" on a daily basis. It wasn't going down any more often before it was removed. But it had become less popular and the Knott family wanted a new ride, though the choice was ill-conceived. All it needed was some updated technology and a little TLC and restoration of theming. Obviously the ride design itself was sound as Blackpool's is still running.
Werd.

They have the large picture there (no sign-up).

Speaking of which...I was thinking about those poor Stagecoach horses. Just when they get used to something, along comes something new to spook them. They had a hell of a time getting used to the Dragon Swing many years ago. Then they had to learn to walk on a big wooden bridge 25 feet in the air. And now this new coaster looks like it crosses their path 4 times! I'll be happy with the new ride, but they won't be. Poor creatures!
As for the photo I was just assuming that Jaguar! was going bye-bye and was edited out of the photo. I was also guessing that Monte was being painted to blend in with Silver Bullet. I forogt that the Poopie Coaster used to be yellow.
