^^ No, you made it clear the people that loved the HSTC were a bunch of amped-up tools.
No, Rob, that's not what I said (though I can't say I'm surprised that you, in particular, are having trouble with this). I said that I happened to ride HSTC at the same time that several other coaster tools were riding it who were obviously enjoying it a great deal. This was to signify that my experience had nothing to do with having the "wrong ride op."
For the record, I do think it's pretty toolish to be throwing your arms in the air and screaming like crazy while riding a kiddie coaster (can you imagine any other adult doing that?). But that's what separates coaster tools from non-enthusiasts. And yeah, I rode HSTC, and I'm not denying which group that puts me in.

Coasterdude -- no tool!
He's ridden it, and that's that.
Y'all just lighten up.

You have nearly 2,500 post on an internet message board dedicated to rolly coasters. Let's keep things in perspective here.
What's with all of this confrontational nonsense over a kiddie ride?

Did you bother to read the rest of my post? (Specifically the part in which I fully admitted to being in the coaster tool category?)

Anyone care to buy a vowel?
That's pretty much what I was going to say. Well, with the vowels ;)
I have two things to say and I'll be done with this one.
Nate, don't play dumb. You know that categorizing the HSTC fans you witnessed as tools was going to upset some of the people around here that really appreciated the ride. It has nothing to do with me (or anyone else) "not getting it". We all get it, and you're just pissed because everyone is calling you on it. And as Matt said, when you have a couple thousand posts on a coaster enthusiast site, you pretty much surrender the ability to categorize any enthusiast's behavior as toolish or otherwise ridiculous. You didn't like the ride? Didn't get what it was all about? Say that and be done with it, and we'd all understand. The rest qualified as baiting.
Some people are going to get it, others aren't. Like I said, I wasn't one of those people that went nuts over the ride, but unlike most kiddy coasters, it was worth a lot more than just the credit. A good ride operator had a way of matching the speed of the chain with the speed of the incoming train and that made it feel like the ride was one long, continious circuit. The airtime was intense in a very strange way that no other coaster has been able to match, and I guess what it all boils down to is whether or not that kind of airtime does it for you. I know that Nitro's airtime is right up my alley, but there are others around here that think Nitro is a total snoozefest because of that airtime. I assume the same applies to the HSTC.
No, you really still just don't get it.

^Backtracking long after what seemed like simple trolling before.
That's just how it comes off. Maybe you didn't intend it that way or maybe your use of the word "tool" is different from what it sounded like.
Honestly, after watching offseason arguments over the past dozen years, I found this to be relatively tame. You all need to get angrier and let the cabin fever take control before this hits the level of previous years (and I go fetch a popcorn bucket). Personally, I blame the economy for the lackluster argumentativeness... ;)
This isn't an argument . . .

..although sometimes this forum does feel like "getting hit over the head" lessons. :)
Now, all those who remember when HSTC was the ONLY coaster at Knoebels, get your walkers and join me over on this side of the room.
Seriously, this stupid pissing over semantics is getting old. Time to move on.
