KI's King Cobra

I hopped on Skrider this past summer when we were up in Toronto... It ran well. It made me miss Cobra for a bit.

Delerium is a much better use for that site, but it would be nice if there was something else there as well.. besides the upcharge bungee thing.

Progress is progress.

Riding King Cobra was like Chandler getting his trousers sized by Joey's tailor.

Skyrider is only like thirty times better than King Cobra in its prime.

I liked King Cobra back in the day when it was new. It's last few years really caused some serious headaches, though. :( Still, I kind of miss that ride. It was my first stand-up and I remember literally standing in line for 2 to 3 hours the first few years. I have some old photos of me on the ride during it's first year.

BUT, I LOVE having Delirium in it's place. :)

The TOGO's at Canada's Wonderland and King's Dominion were pure HELL for me since I rode them for the first time in the last couple of years. Either they are getting too old or I am....or both! OUCH!

RIP KC. :)

Long live the Big Bad Wolf

Wasn't this the first stand up coaster? Or is it just a first generation of stand ups? Somewhere I believe I read that this was the first stand up coaster manufactered.

Blue People fly sideways when it rains...
The first stand up coaster in America was Extremeroller at Worlds of Fun in 1983.

Second, was Railblazer at Six Flags Over Mid-America also in 1983.

King Cobra opened as the third stand up coaster in the U.S. in 1984.

Prowler. Opens May,2 2009.

The other two of the US standups - 1983, as well as the two in Japan -1982, (all info per rcdb) weren't *designed* as stand-ups though...

KC was built specifically for standing while riding...
