Kings Island confirms Starlight Experience.

I honestly think this is the best decision CFEC has made (other than new rides) regarding parks in a while, putting this in at various parks. I hope this is something that they roll out to all of their parks eventually.

I do wish they'd bring back a parade. They seemed to like that Nick parade. They could bring it back in Snoopy form. Even Six Flags has seen that Parades can be a marketable new attraction, and if the Starlight thing can be, so can a parade.

I dunno.. Its only 4 (max) hours from CP.. Do they really need something that similar that close. I think they could benefit more at KD where they can pull the DC/MD/VA draw..

Well, I'd imagine it's more of a draw to get the locals in and get them to stay longer (and spend longer), so it really isn't about 'competing' with CP I'd venture to guess.

Wait, KI shouldn't put in Starlight because CP has it? That's crazy talk.

Plus Disney does a firework show at Epcot and the MK every night but no one complains about them doing "the same thing so close."

Oh I see they have a different theme to their shows, Im willing to bet KI's Starlight will not be season themed like CP either.

Never said they shouldnt, thats your remark. I just questioned the location choice based on sheer volume of potential draw. KD can draw from VA/DC/MD (huge population base) far more easier than KI.

I would think since Ohio already has one, the next logical would be a bit further away to give a "new group" a similar experience. Then perhaps follow up with your other parks.

OK, so you're saying the two parks' proximity to one another is a reason to install it elsewhere? That's crazy talk!

Better? :)

No.

Hey! A reason to go back to KI. I'll take it.

The people that are being targeted with Starlight likely wouldn't know or care that another installation exists 4 hours away.

Why KD ridemcoaster? I wouldn't want to compete with busch gardens fireworks.

I honestly think this might be a better fit for Starlight than at CP. KI already has the fountains and Eiffel Tower which look pretty good with the special lighting at night.

I suppose.. My thoughts stand. If you are doing something new.. Choose a location you can advertise to the bigger base.

I guess you could apply similar thinking, that they could have very well built a 305 footer at KI near CP which has one. However, Im sure proximity factored into that decision, even a little bit, as well as themeing was more fit for the south east (in this case.. though it could have been themed something else at KI). But its speculation and wonder on my part mostly.

Lots of good arguments in favor of KI, but none enough to compel me otherwise.

And history dictates KD tends to be supplemental to BG (and vice versa), not so much competitive, as a fair amount of people catch one on the way to the other. So im not sure they would "compete" with the fireworks, per se.

You know, a lot of people consider roller coasters all the same too, so to me suggesting that KI shouldn't add this is a lot like suggesting they shouldn't add one of these shows.

I'm 100% for it. I love Starlight Experience, and I'm annoyed that it won't be running when I get out there this year (during Halloweekends).

Now im confused.. Who is suggesting they shouldnt get a coaster? Not me. I think we are actually saying the same thing really.

Placing a coaster has a lot of political thought to it. I would speculate that they wouldnt have even thought of building a 305 footer at KI due to its proximity to Millie as one of its factors. I apply that similar thinking to SE.

Is what they did wrong? Don't care, not my point.. Its their business. Just my initial thought was, "hmm.. to me, makes more sense further away from a similar attraction, and near an epicenter of people".

I'm trying to visualize where the illuminated areas will be. The web site merely says the midways and the Eiffel Tower will be lit up. But which midways? The whole park? Considering the size of KI, even 2 million lights might be spread a bit thin on that size property.

I would hope they would focus on one or two areas and really go crazy, thereby producing the immersing experience that CP offers on Frontier Trail. Then again, if the whole park is done up to that degree, the effect would be nothing less than magnificent.

Nevertheless, in addition to my daughter now being tall enough to ride Diamondback, this give another reason to look forward to getting down there this year.

My point was simply that they shouldn't build a light show because there's one in Sandusky is a lot like suggesting that they shouldn't build a coaster because there are coasters in Sandusky.

Doesnt mean that thought process doesnt happen however.

That's like saying just because there's a Hooters in Cincinnati they shouldn't build one at Cedar Point.

Wont repeat myself in what im saying as the lot arent getting it. No hate on the decision.

But, I will say, that I wouldnt think for one minute that the thought of not building a 305' coaster at KI due to its proximity to prized Millie, didnt cross someones mind at CF at one point.

I just applied that downward a bit. Good for KI getting it, I would see it at either location. Still think KD could make use of it..
