I must be weird. I have next to no interest in coasters until they're operating. The speculation, the parts photos, the construction updates - it's meaningless to me. I consider it one of the most boring aspects of the enthusiast community.
Sticking with Final Force 500's 'presents' analogy, the presents don't mean crap until I open them. I'll worry about what's in the box when I open it.
With that said, this post is going onto to page 21 of this thread. I fully understand that I'm in the minority. :)
All a thread like this does is let me know where I'll be traveling next summer.
I'm actually right there with you, Gonch...with most coasters. The only exceptions being Millinnium Force and Son of Beast in 1999/2000, because they were both huge and different (and that year was basically the pinnacle of my enthusiast-dom), TTD in 2002/2003, because it was huge and different, and KD's new one, because it's huge and...at my home park.
I've also theorized that it'll have a vertical lift. I'm probably wrong, but that's ok.

Well, the fact that you're here means you're at least shaking the box to see what it might be. Although, I understand what you mean. Sometimes wanting and/or guessing what something is diminishes the gift all together..and you never forget it...like when I got a lousy Teddy Ruxpin instead of the TechnoDrome from Ninja Turtles. Ah, 1990 (sigh).

To easy.. moving on ;)

Note to self: No gifts for Gonch.
Oddly I have a quasi agreement between Gonch and Vater.
I typically dont care about new coasters during the building stage when they are out of my home park radius, or out of my BEC family. Mostly because I feel more personal investment in seeing whats going on because it will be a ride I get to experience whenever I want, vs 1 trip per year or so. I feel a better knowledge of the history of "my" local coaster I guess.
But even if it is out of my "range", I do like to read the threads about it still. Mostly because its fun to see what new name Moosh is called in PM ;)

As a moderator, I glance at every thread that gets posted here. Takes just a moment, makes me useful...that sort of thing. :)
Has anybody seen anymore "GEN-U-WINE" info on this things, besides track parts and rumors?

You mean like the shipping label that reads "Gigacoaster 02" that was photographed a few weeks ago?
Did someone say Giga-coaster?

That was the wrong link. Isn't this what you really meant?

I figure a park official going on record as saying "those rumors can be pretty accurate" as confirmation enough for me, about as genuine as it gets until the official announcement with boring details like track length and ride time. ;)
You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

Personally, I like this one:

While the 80s were truly unique. You're right, great moves - lol - jp
I love guessing the layout before the announcement based on the track and pieces on-site. And I too will be planning at least one trip to KD next summer, and possibly more.

There is no way it will be a vertical lift.
Here is the top of the lift section:

That would be a ridiculously long top of a vertical lift, it would have to have at least 2 other sections the same length to go along with it.
You guys wanna talk about unique 80's vids?
Get a load of this:

Has anybody thought about an 80's themed coaster? I could see all the gals wearing legwarmers and they guys w/ Members Only jackets and a DeLoream park out front.

I'm not disputing that the curved piece shown is the top. I believe it is as well. But no matter what type of drop it would have, wouldn't there have to be 2 other sections the same length on either side anyway? Plus, we're talking about a giga coaster. The top section from the transformation of lift to drop is going to be huge, round, and gradual. I'm guessing like Millennium Force.
The only problem I have is with that thick tubular box structure underneath the lift track. I cant imagine why they would build such huge pieces for a diagonal lift. There would be so much weight on lift supports for nothing. Also, if you look at the gray crosses that are at the end of every tube, they look they are needed for bracing a vertical support beam, similar to the pic below...
^^So I'm confused...it's cool as a guy to wrap your arm around him when getting a pic with Kinzel...that's what I did!!
Speaking of confused, why do you use two carets when referring to the post above your own? You may be the reason I have such confusion over the use of carets. Isn't it just one caret if you are referring above one post?
