Kings Dominion teases Grizzly restoration

^Me as well. I remember riding it about a dozen years ago and enjoying it, but it sounds like it went downhill after that (pun intended).

Fever I really enjoy the Simpsons. It's just a shame that I am starting to LOOK like Homer.

I rode it last June and it was one of the worst rides I have ever had on a wooden coaster. And I rode the OG Gwazi in its final days!

I marathon-lite rode Grizzly in July, and observed the following:

  1. Some seats were rough but tolerable (barely)
  2. Some seats were rough and “worst coaster ever” intolerable
  3. The dip into the tunnel is one of my favorite coaster moments anywhere
  4. The overall Grizzly coaster experience has HUGE potential if given a proper Beast / Racer style rehab.

So yes, I’m looking forward to Grizzly 2.0 next year.

Every so often I drive that way for a little KD/Busch action but I haven’t done it for a few years now. The drive from Ohio seems to get longer every time but I think I’ll tough it out sometime this upcoming season. I’d be in position to pick up a couple/three credits if I do. Let’s hope Grizzly makes its triumphant return sooner than later in the summer.
Grizzly was toward the top of my imaginary list when it debuted. And I agree that those low, hoppy stretches are some of the best moments. Just this side of being Phoenix-ish. It sounds like some of the planned re-profiling stands to only make it better.
