Kingda Ka Testing

I also have to admit the employees are nicer so far. I was actually greeted with a smile while being handed my orange ticket at Nitro. They also finally got smart and put tables past the metal detectors so security isn't standing there trying to hold stuff and search it.

What rides are they doing the ticket thing on? Were you being serious about that?
I was right all along with the fact that the cables will go throught the A-frame supports. I noticed how much higher up the launch track is compared to TTD's at that point and the ride immediatly starts the assent. That should reduce the amount of rollbacks there.
Oh its so hard not to mention negativity with Six Flags...but why do they run it at such slow speeds?
possibly for burn in of the motors. kinda like when they say not to drive a new car faster than 55 miles an hour for the first 500 miles or so?

"The Safety is the next thing, they can send up as many unmanned cars as they want, but are they putting the water filled simulators on and also testing the forces and other safety concerns. That is the deciding factor of if this ride will open on time. You people seem to forget that."

Testing forces? Safety concerns? I don't believe that there are any new safety concerns after what has gone on with Dragster. I'm sure that they have addressed those concerns with the newer addition of KK. Trust me, there will be water filled dummies in no time and it will be racing full circuit. I have no doubt that it will open on time, no matter how much these SF haters want it to fail.

One theory I have is just to verify the fit of all the parts. If they fired it up the very first time at full power, and something wasn't aligned right, you could have oil all over the place, or worse.

"You seem healthy. So much for voodoo."

Out of curiosity, what is the general consensus on what the reliability of this thing will be? Even putting SF aside (for those who say that it would be their fault), do you think that it will have the reliability problems that TTD had? I have a feeling that they have fixed much of the issues that plagued TTD before building KK, but I'm not really sure. Any ideas?

I guess you havent read any of the other threads on Kinda KA? Everyone has their own opinion on how reliable it will be.
or says that let's just wait and see how reliable it will be and not speculate on it since we don't know.

Dragster was tested the same way (perhaps Monty's blog is still on the CP site). They launch at low speeds and then check everything, increase speed, check everything again, rinse, lather, repeat.

IF something is gonna fail, better to fail at low speeds and low pressures....

I still wanna know how Ka made it over the top when launching at 20mph though...;)

While we're on the topic of Kingda Ka, check out these new pics from SFGAdv. That truely is some amazing landscaping and themeing around the ride:

If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.

No, just sell them.
