Killing The Spam (Temporarily)...

Although it's not a means to an end... it is a temporary solution that I just thought might be helpful.

I am now sure how Jeff feels on all these recent members (unless they are all the same under different aliases) just posting SPAM, but I think this way might kill some of the SPAM messages for at least a little bit.

What he should do is just first delete the account of the SPAM member (which was probably done many times before)... but also... just put a temporary stop to signing up for a new membership.

He should just take out the code for now to sign up as a Coasterbuzz member, so once their old name is deleted, they cannot resign up under some different name. This way, once they're kicked out... they're gone!

After a couple weeks or so, it could be reinstated... There's probably nearly 6000 members as is. More are always welcome additions, but as a temporary solution... taking out the signing up for a member might help stop Spammers.

Dawgbyte, you are probably right that the spamming is from a single person.  After all, it's always the same web sites, plus the one is usually spelled wrong!

Jeff & mods: Perhaps it's time for another "Don't feed the Trolls" post in the general buzz section for all the newer members to read.  I'd post one, but that's not my place.

Thanks

I'm not going to penalize people who want to participate because some moron is still searching for a life. As I've said, the best thing you can do is just IGNORE the troll. If you ignore it, the thread goes away and we can all get on with our lives.
