Kennywood's Pitt Fall listed for sale

According to International Rides Management's facebook page, the Pitt Fall is for sale. https://www.facebook.com/pages/International-Rides-Management/15915...031?ref=ts

Some pictures are included...interesting how they use facebook to market it.

Screamscape mentioned this earlier this week. Bit of landmark on the way out. If there are maintenance challenges associated with it (as has been rumoured) - I guess that would explain why Parques Reunidos aren't moving it elsewhere.

Nothing to see here. Move along.

Is this running like Demon Drop did while it was for sale, or is it SOB?

True, it has become an icon of Kennyood (Too bad it's black and yellow ;)). Then again it is a valid argument concerning maintenance. I have taken several trips to Kennywood in the past few years and haven't seen a day without substantial downtime. In terms of replacement, which I think is a requirement, another tower would seem appropriate because of Pitt Fall's great location. It could be along the lines of the new trend for tall swing rides or another freefall tower.

Kennywood, while unique, doesn't have the greatest quantity of attractions. General public want a lot of thrills reguardless of classic appeal or cutting edge technology. Losing an intense attraction in a smaller park with no immediate replacement could yield some negative PR.

Always liked to get a couple quick rides on Pitt Fall when it first opens in the morning. Doing that I guess I never paid much attention to the downtime. It probably hasn't run all 4 sides very much if it all recently.

The other part of the rumor is that it could be replaced with a Windseeker type ride. That would be a bust in my opinion.

The only negative PR could be the realization that lately at Kennywood addition has come at subtraction of something else. They did vow to put Turnpike somewhere though. Not sure how that would work between this site and Phantom.

This is too bad. Possibly my favorite drop ride, mainly because of the view. I always enjoyed sitting in a car facing the river. As others have stated hopefully they will replace it with another drop ride in the same location. The views were just too good.

According to whom?

S&S towers, whether you like them or not, seem to be the most reliable of the genre. Might even be able to find used ones these days.

I with DejaVuNitro, Pittfall is my favorite drop ride too. I really can't say why. It's just like all of the other Intamin drop rides of that type. I just like it better for some reason.

What makes Intamin rides so unreliable? Aren't they at all concerned about their reputation?

One problem with Pitt Fall is that while eight of the seats have a great view, eight other seats have a lousy view. Why not replace it with something where all the seats get a good view?

Thats the general plan, and it will turn out great, like everything else they do.

The view from the roof is pretty nice.

Hi

Its the little things some of us experience in the business that makes it worthwhile.

I didn't like Pittfall at all. Sure it may have been taller than others. But, it didn't deliver as well. My favorite was Hellevator. I really miss seeing it when I enter Kentucky Kingdom (past tense of course).

I really love the old-school Intamin drops. They are far more intense than the S&S towers. Everything from the Demon Drop to the Drop Tower at KI still make me highly nervous, but in a good way. There is nothing more nerve-wracking than those few seconds before any of those towers drop. :)

The S&S Towers are fun as well, but are more "floaty" than the hardcore Intamins. I will really hate to see the Pittfall go. It was one of my favorite rides there. :)

I've got it! They should replace Pitt Fall with a Condor. I even know of a park that desperately wants to sell one...! :)

Yeah, we tried to place it at Idlewild, but that pesky ownership change. Do you realize the size of the crane we would need to pick that ride up once the new lift hill is built along the north side of Surfside Pier?

Is the Schwarzkopf on that page Greezed Lightening?

I'm just glad Lori didn't let me chicken out. Pitt Fall was worth the scary ultra nervousness.
