Don't get your hopes up to much for Skyline. It's definately not gourmet cuisine.

I hated it the first few times I had it, but still ended up going back thanks to drunk friends. I actually learned to like it and worse yet, crave it. But it's similar to a White Castle craving, it doesn't happen all the time and is definately helped if I have a little buzz. I usually end up regretting it the next day, but that still doesn't stop me.

Now that I live outside of Ohio, I only get it maybe once a year when i visit friends or relatives. 3 cheese coneys with everything on them and 15 minutes later I'm out of there. At least it's cheap!

And don't listen to nasai, I didn't force him to eat Skyline at PKI. I like to think of it more like I tricked him into eating it. :)

Yeah is Good!

Thats too bad that the moving floors on Noahs Ark are not working. They really make the ride, and are truely one of a kind. Hopefully they are up and running soon.

I was there 7/1 and the floors still weren't working. It's the first time I remember going that they weren't working. I'll always love how the park has you walk down steps while the ark is rocking back and forth. Some people can't even walk down steps on still land ;)

I love Noah, but I hate that line for it. Bring back the whale's mouth!

Skyline is definitely an *acquired* taste, much like White Castle. If I eat anything from Skyline it has to have LOTS of extra cheese!

LOL! Gonch, I keep promising myself I will eat at Primanti's the "next time" I am in the Burgh. I always get fascinated with the local and mom and pop restaurants they show on the Travel Channel.

It's obvious the debate over whether the larger parks are a better deal over the smaller parks with smaller prices will never be resolved, especially since it's totally based upon opinion.

Gonch has kids who get bored easily and he has no trouble whipping out the wallet. Whereas my husband, son and I can spend all day at a smaller park without the boredom...it's a more laid back time.

We work off a budget. If the parking and entrance fee is more expensive, we spend less money IN the park. But for HW, and KW, we spent less to get in, so had more to spend Inside the park for food, games, souveniers. WE feel we get more for our money.

If we'd had the time (and if they'd had an ATM with money available), we would have had a more substantial eating experience at KW, and we would have had no trouble staying until closing without being bored.

It's the same with Holiday World. Even now my 20 year old son would much prefer spending the extra cash to head down to HW than to put it toward BooBuzz at CP. In the two trips we've made to HW, he has never complained of boredom. Although we had an RV nearby, we didn't take any RV breaks during the day. We ate in the park instead of in the RV because we felt we were getting more for our money.

Gonch is right...parents/grandparents who are taking kids to the larger parks are going to spend the money regardless on their one trip each year. But as my friend said, they can only afford one trip now whereas before they would take two.

Friends tell me the Nathan's dogs at Coney aren't as good as they used to be. I think they're still quite good (not that I'd want to consume 53+ of them, LOL).

Skyline Chili? WAY overrated. TEXAS is where ya get chili. ;)

Pizza in Cincy? I think that's kinda like eating seafood in Omaha...

Best chili in Cincinnati by far. Call the number on the page and order it by the gallon anywhere.

Chuck, who says Skyline and Gold star is not even in the same leauge.

BTW, They are closed for two weeks for employee vacation and they are closed every sunday but don't miss it.

Top spagehtti with the chili and mild cheddar, add onions or red beans if you like.

Heck, for 75 bucks at Lake rudolph you can get a RV that sleeps eight. Whats a room at Breakers cost now? 150.00? Plus you got a kitchen and your own head.

Chuck who agrees if moneys not a issue, your gonna do what you want anyway but if you want to feel the best bang for the buck HW or Kennywood or Knoebels and a few others are your ticket.

HW wond the Vegas hooker award from the Indy Star for best bang for the buck for the regions parks CP, HW, PKI, SFKK, Geauga and Kennywood :) Im sure Will was thrilled with that award :)

Classic CoasterBuzz thread.

Starts as a TR, moves into park pricing/value and slides from that into regional food discussion.

Good stuff. :)

The day I try and get my wife to stay in a rented RV is the same day I get freakin' divorced! :). She doesnt want me to get a cargo conversion van, let alone a Winnebago. And to sleep in a *rented* one would be a non-starter.

I'd gladly pay the money to stay in Sandcastle Suites. Peace of mind is priceless. :)

^LOL! Gonch. Did you expect anything else? ;)

Now Bill, I am sure there are some fine seafood restaurants in Nebraska.

We have some great places here in Southern West Virginia that serve some killer cheesesteaks. Uh, yeah. ;)

Topics always seem to turn to food around lunchtime... ;)

Now that I'm full, let's get back to the TR and the park value/picing thing...LOL! :)

Fried Gator is too expensive in parks for my taste!

Fortunately, I don't have to go to a park to get fried gator.

So this latest turn in the discussion steered me to Skyline for dinner tonight.

Good food. Nothing spectacular, but not somewhere I would avoid.

Living in a hotel the past month means we've pretty much run the restaurant circuit in the area.

So far the best was the Filet Mignon dinner at Logan's Roadhouse. Score Brewski Onions and 'Shrooms on the side and compliment with the Grilled Vegetable Skewer and Overlaoded Mashed Potatoes. Beware of their Buttery Yeast Roll thingies - I think they're laced with crack. (or coke or meth or nicotine or caffeine or some other highly addictive something-or-other :) )

Ambience is the standard "throw your peanut shells on the floor" - but I can overlook that. Their site says they have 150 locations, but this is the first one I've lived near.

(man, I gotta start going to better restaurants :) )
