Keeping things fresh and fun!!!

I just want to take a moment to discuss with you, the Coasterbuzz community, the recent rash of threads that have been posted here that have been resulting in unnecessary arguing, use of objective language, and flat out inflammatory posts.

To sound sometimes like a broken record, we (especially Jeff) work very hard to bring you this, a discussion forum that appeals to many of folk, of all ages whose interest are rollercoasters and amusement parks.

I want to remind all of you that a wide variety of our audience span across all ages, thus resulting in various levels of intellect (i.e., the experienced coaster enthusiast, the novice, and the curious.)

When you post, PLEASE take a moment and THINK about what you are posting. That is, realize the audience you are communicating to! They range in age from the elementary student all the way up to our senior citizens. When you begin writing your posts, I encourage you to take time and consider the audience, as well as yourself. Will the subject you are about to post spark an intellectual discussion, be inquizitive to other's knowledge of these passions? Or will your post humiliate you?

We, like most of you, have a passion... a love of amusement parks and coasters. This is our place to come and enjoy each other's company, discussions, debates and intellectual conversation about that passion. It is unfortunate that sometimes this is spoiled by some who feel the need to interject with ruthless and shameless posts that prove nothing.

We of course live in a democratic society, that allows the freedom of speech, and we won't deny that. But, when things become so far out of hand, resulting in another messy and unorganized discussion forum, we must take measures from preventing that from happening. The end result, a fresh and fun forum that is organized and well maintained!

Let us please enjoy each other and our passions!

It says proper spelling and grammar required?? This may sound stupid, but can't we make a little typo here or there?

There's a difference between a typo (which we all make) and "r ne of u lam3rz?" People like to read real, spelled out words, with capitialization and punctuation. I have a degree in English, and I will not allow my corner of the world's greatest communication medium degrade in to an unreadable mess of lazy shorthand. I feel very strongly about that. I'm tired of our country being ranked low in the literacy ratings.

Thank you.
Just like Jeff said, grammar is a must when posting something. When you type misspelled words people dont take you seriously because you are then looked at as someone who has no clue about anything. If you visit some of the other coaster forum sites you will see that the grammar and spelling is horrible. People need to take their time and possibly edit some of the things they type before submitting it. It pays off in the end.Corrections have been implemented. O.K. I know when I have been beat down. You guys are right. I need to do what I preach. But I do have an excuse. All day drinking on Sunday didnt help the brain waves to much.
sorry guys, but the only reason i don't capitalize is because the shift button is outta wack sometimes. i feel very strong against grammar stupidity, too. i had a 4.0 average in honors language arts the past 2 years (i am suppost to be a writer or something when i am older), and i really hate it when people talk to me online and abreviate and write in the computer talk. it is pure laziness, and i hope everyone on this board keeps up the good work on trying to spell, grammatize(made up the word), and not be a complete retard when it comes to english. :)

Yeah, Chitown, I noticed the time of your post before I replied, but I couldn't resist. I figured it was a late night for you, but all the more reason to give you the business. =) All in good fun. *** This post was edited by Camel on 6/20/2000. ***
