KBF Construction Update - walls up in Fiesta Vill.

There have been rumors that the Gran Slammer [Chance Falling Star] and Tumbler [Zierer Fireball] are being removed for a new flat, rumored to be a Huss Frisbee [possibly a Giant Frisbee].

On my visit this morning I noticed construction walls now up around both flats and the small restaurant next to the Hat Dance, and the Tumbler is about 3/4 disassembled, with most of the parts moved to the graveyard across La Palma Blvd. No work being done on the Slammer as of yet. I certainly hope some other CF park is the recipient of Tumbler, its a great ride.

Unlike on my previous visit just after New Years, when Slammer was listed on the "Closed Rides" list, today neither ride was listed which, IMHO, is a sign the park considers them already gone.

Look for a full trip report later tonight.

Seems like ti would be a good addition to MIA Moosh as I am pretty sure they are getting rid of Thunderbolt and their falling star.

Thanks for the update

Now quit rubbing in the fact that you are going to parks when its 15 here today and we just got 4 inches more of snow. ;)

Noooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!! I loved those rides.

btw Pictures of it were both on ACN and Westcoaster.

Send the Gran Slammer WOF's way if they don't want it, we can always use a new flat ride. Also if no one wants the Tumbler, we'll take that as well too. :)

Any chance the Frisbee will be up by March 10th or so? ;)

Don't count on it. :) They still have to dismantle the two rides, clear out the land, and then install the new ride. There aren't any parts of the ride on site yet, so I expect it to take a while.

Honestly, I don't see it opening until about Memorial Day or so.

I'm glad that I got to ride the Tumbler when I visited earlier this month. I found it to be a delight and much less nausea-inducing than it looks...definitely an IB quality flat...the standard by which all others should be measured. :) Hopefully it will find a good home.

Expect a Huss Giant ride to replace them, there are photos up at ACN...

dawn, you just keep impressing "the judges" with stuff like that....:). Tumbler is awesome, one of my *top tier* flats....it had BETTER find a home, and if it's within CF it might even relocate for '03....

From the looks of how the parts were placed in the maintenance yard it seems they are taking good care of it. Perhaps it will see the light of day at some other park.

'Moosh, are you saying they didn't treat WindJammer with *kid gloves* when they dismantled it.....;)

If "kid gloves" is Florida-ese for "knocked it over with a bulldozer, ripped it apart with blowtorches, used sledgehammers to beat it into a tiny metal ball, threw the ball into the ocen, then pissed on the ocean", then yes, Knott's used kid gloves on Windjammer.

bASS - Was ready to bring his sledgehammer down but just missed winning the raffle

LOL Bass. Sorry we didn't let you know we were going, it was a last-minute idea to meet there.

There has not been a bad comment yet about the Fireball ride. It seems its a bad decision to get rid of such a popular ride.

Super7 - Tumbler [aka Zerier Fireball] is a fun ride, but it's also has a very long cycle time, takes a long time to load, and has been a maintenance nightmare the last few years. I suspect the reason the park is removing it has more to do with reliability than popularity.

She does, and it is, but where would IB put it?

I'm gonna miss the Tumbler at Knott's since it is one of the few spin'n'pukes that didn't make me nauseous.

Yes, it IS quite amazing how having ONE op do loading, unloading, checking restraints, running the board, getting lunch for other employees, stocking the popcorn vendors' carts, etc., etc., etc. can really cut down on Tumbler's capacity....;)

'Moosh, I *think* dawn was referring to the QUALITY of Tumbler, not to a potential new home....we're ALL (those who love Tumbler) hoping for a relocation within CF, since it would come back *on-line* a LOT quicker....of course, she can't speak for herself until after 4pm...;)
