Kanonen-On Ride Video and Pics

Wow, that's the first ride that's impressed me in a while.

I wonder how this ride would feel if it was Vekoma building it instead of Intamin. It seems so close to being too small for it's own good, but just barely big enough. Good lord though, I don't see how the trains can make that transition right after the loop.

Insane looking ride, but it should have two laps for lack of length. :)

Here is another video, showing interesting off-ride footage plus another pov.

(its in the first post of the thread)

Check out the weird noise the trains make while traversing the element AFTER the loop! Eeek.

Another intersting thing you notice in the off-ride footage is how incredibly slow the train gets during the top-hat.

I love looking at the train go over that insanely twisted element after the loop... Great stuff.

This ride does look like a great hit, hopefully we can get some small rockets, maybe a little bigger than this - 60mph?

Wishing I lived across the pond now....

Yeah, the squeak is very distinctive; it's metal against metal. Hopefully they'll be able to sort it out in due course, as I can't imagine it's doing the wheels (or for that matter the track) any good.

Liseberg has one of the best coaster lineups of any park in the world, what with Balder, Lisebergbanan, and now Kanonen. It's well worth a visit, and an easy day trip from most of Europe if you're over for something else.

it's more of a squock than a squeak
^Because it was a flawed prototype, which opened one year late, had to be partly dismantled and rebuilt, and was a huge maintenance nightmare.

tricktrack, their Invertigo (HangOver?) had a different lift system than the ones here in the States, right?

Assuming I am recalling correctly, why not just convert it over to a chain lift?

It started with a LSM lifthils but they couldn't get it to work so after that year of delay they refitted the lifthills with that chain lift.
Olov is right, the friction less lift should have been on all Invertigos but it just didnĀ“t work.

Not only the lift hills were rebuilt, the Cobra Roll element was sent to the Netherlands as well for a rebuilt.

The park quickly got a S&S Tower as a substitute (which was so successful that they ordered another one soon after).

It IS one of Vekomas best rides, though.

I'd prefer this over Rita. Looks pretty cool!
An interesting observation about the launch track of Kanonen. The hydraulic building seems to be located in the middle of the lauch. http://rcdb.com/ig2905.htm?picture=20
There is a pulley just on the right edge of the photo.
Seeing the 2nd video, the ride seems really smacky whippy and in-your-lapbar-y.
Are they sure this is healthy?
:)

This has to be the coaster with the sharpest high speed transitions in all directions ever.
