Kanonen, another new Rocket for 2005...

Maybe they went hydrolic because its much smaller. I haven't heard of any problems with Vekoma's new Moter Bike coaster, and it is hydrolic launch as well...

Maybe the smaller it is, the better hydrolic runs? I dunno, but if that is true, then that would probably be better than LIMs.

I highly doubt that they were just thinking "bigger isn't better". They probably wanted a newer ride, decided on a more family friendly launch, and since they're in europe, they called Intamin. Plus it is a cheap new addition that seems to fit in well with what they have.

Just like Tivoli and Damonen. Just because its small dosen't mean that the park just wanted to prove its as good as the larger ones. Sometimes you only have so much space and cash to work with, and when you already know what you want, the design companies are very willing to work with that number as long as they're getting paid.

Tekno: I was refferring to our (people on this site) collective tastes in rides seeming to shift towards smaller ones, not the parks that build them.

I completely understand that this ride could be perfect for the park and its needs, but I just personally thought taking this 46 mph ride over Kingda Ka was going a bit far. Again though, it's just my opinion...

Looks like a neat little ride... although after being on TTD i've noticed slower launch rides just don't have the same thrill as they used to...

... i knew i shouldn't have ridden it!

My friend called this rocket, a "Pocket Rocket". Which gave me a laugh.

Yeah right Clint. If Carowinds was building a ride of TTD's magnitude you would go buck wild ;)

Fate is the path of least resistance.

Flight of Fear's launch still gives me a thrill, and it's not much faster than this... 53 mph in 4 seconds?

Another Rocket... i guess the trend for 2005 will be coaster w/ 'K' names?

Looking at the layout of the ride, I think I'd rather ride this little "Pocket Rocket"(kudos to your friend Alex) than TTD. TTD was great the first time, but when you aren't intimidated by it anymore after the first ride, it really loses it's appeal as being a one trick pony. Personally, I hope that this one does well at Liseberg and maybe we can see more of these in the future in the U.S. (you know, something in the spirit of Storm Runner)

Certain victory.

Andy, $6.7 million...you were one digit off, not them, LOL...

Yeah, but there're 4 digits between the first two commas. :P

LMAO....touche!

But...quoth rcdb: "Cost 50,000,000 SEK (about 6,7750,000 USD using 1 USD = 7.41 SEK)"...that looks to me like Duane slipped the digit, not you OR the park, LOL. Hey, for EVERYTHING Duane is one of the first to come upon, I'll give him this one...;)

I'll do the math (not really but I'm a good "guesser" LOL), the comma was SUPPOSED to come before the first zero. Which means it really IS about 6.8M....not a bad price for a new steelie from a major SWISS manufacturer (i.e., not Dutch)...;)

Agreed. If Carowinds was getting anything of TTD or Ka's magnitude, I'd be buck wild, and at the park every free chance I could get. But I'm a realist, not an optimist, Tuan, and know they'd be much more suited for this.

Sucks that PCar dosen't have anything launched yet:(. But still, I'm not as excited about Ka as I was about TTD. I really would like to see a Kanonen type Pocket Rocket come to the states:).

Now if they installed Janet as a perm. ride @ PCar...Oh, wait, I think I just crossed that line...

;)

Fingers crossed Alton Towers' new launched coaster for 2005 will be similar to this. :)

Except the AT version is known to launch to 100km/h. *** Edited 10/5/2004 1:42:20 PM UTC by fozi999***

I thought they were getting a Vekoma Moterbike? Hey, look on the bright side, its still a Hydraulic launch;). *** Edited 10/5/2004 3:12:45 PM UTC by TeknoScorpion***

I Never claim to be good at spelling, George:).
it's not just you, Tek...you just happened to be the final straw. I have seen it wrong so many times over the past few days I finally got to the point where I said to myself that I'd point it out the next time I saw it... and you were the "lucky winner" ;)

--George H

LOL. I feel you Redman. I am almost at my last straw with "verticle." People don't say (write) horizontle. Oh well
