I also upgrade cards about once every 2 years, or when the card has outlived it's usefulness and just isn't pulling the frames anymore. When I built my first computer a few years ago TNT 2s were just coming out, so I saved a bit of money and went with a straight TNT for about $120. I bought a used TNT2 from a friend for $75 about a year later. I kept that for 2 or more years or so until I bought the GeForce2 GTS I have now. I'll keep that until it's struggling to keep good framerates on the games I want to play, then move onto the next card I can get for about $120 that is above the middle of the road area.
