Is this a coaster? No not S:TE

I wouldnt call freefalls coasters because the manufacturer does not call them that!

It's this simple: If the manufacturer calls it a coaster...it's a coaster. If not, then it's not. That works for me and is consistent with virtually every ride in the world.

My two favorite coasters are named Superman.

Complete agreement there, if the manufactuer calls the ride a coaster then it's a coaster in my book. Intamin clearly list Superman:The Escape as a Reverse Freefall Coaster and in fact, show this picture right under the title Roller Coasters. Enthusiasts can argue day and night but their opinion is just their own. We had nothing to do with developing this ride and its the manufactuer's say in what their creation is, what the product is called, and how to label it.

We can argue and say that poop doesn't stink it just smells bad, but you have the right to what you want to say abotu your own mess. So say it, but these rides aren't your creations, so just enjoy them since they're their.

I don't think it is a coaster but there are plenty of those rides in the country. One at CP, SFgadv, SFwoa etc.

Here's what I got to say, if Cedar Point thinks Wicked Twister is a coaster, than it is. If SFMM thinks S:TE is a coaster, than it is! Evidently the owners/ride company, is better at naming it a coaster than any of you are, or me! Also, if the ride/coaster is listed under their coaster list, then guess what? It's a coaster!!!!!

I'm sorry, but i just can't consider drop-rides being coasters. What makes the difference is that for example S:TE moves along a Y and an X axis. Drop-rides just do the Y. IMHO there should be a certain change in direction in the path of the 'coaster' to be considered being a coaster. ...

The particular ride I described does change direction. The track layout is exactly like S:TE except the car/train is raised up the vertical track and dropped down.

Here's a link to a photo of FreeFall. Scroll to the bottom of the page...

1st Generations travel on an X axis.

I meant rides like Dropzone. Some also consider them coasters. To me FreeFall is a coaster.

You are the passengers on a most uncommon elevator, about to ascend into your very own episode of the Twilight Zone

All I know is I just got back from Magic Mountain and S:TE is crap. If it is a coaster, it is one of the most pointless ideas ever. Why not just build a drop ride with lims to pull it skyward to drop? Its the same concept without the acceleration part which is weak anyway.

It wasn't weak when the ride opened, that's for sure. It was the first rider could go that fast that quickly. It's fairly easy to pick on the ride now, but it paved the way for Wicked Twister and several other Intamin launch coasters.
