Hi, my name is Eric, and I am a coaster junkie.

I think the forums over there pretty much suck. Hard to Navigate...even harder to post new topics or reply to a topic. Just not to the caliber I would have expect out of them. I must now give Jeff much thanks for having a more user friendly forum. One I did not have to spend a half hour trying to figure out. Not to be bashing them in anyway. But IMO this forum is easier to use. I am however glad to see that they are adding new things finally. Hopefully the competition (albeit friendly) will only spark more creativity in what we internet coaster junkies can do and view on the respective websites.

These Buzz forums are easier to use than the ThrillRide forums, but I do like ThrillRide's "Wild Rumors and Random Notes" and have contributed a few my self (mainly dispelling some local rumors, or turning in some "random notes").

I think each side has its merits...

CoasterBuzz for the forums

ThrillRide for Rumors/Random Notes (and someday soon the old World of Coasters data base)

RideZone for lots of coverage of the Pennsylvania area, especially Dorney.

RollerCoaster Data Base for its data base (naturally).

As a matter of fact, RCDB is the one that may stand to lose the most by ThrillRides upgrade if the old World of Coasters data base is incorporated into that site.

Oh the good old days... when superheros were superheros and coasters were coasters...
I'm not enamoured with Thrillride!'s new look either. I generally just hit that site to look at the ridiculous (and usually wrong) rumors that pop up. I come to Coasterbuzz for the latest news, since it's the most quickly updated. Why wait for Friday to roll around and Thrillride to update their news when you can get the latest scoop every day right here?

Do keep in mind that we, the moderators, nominated ThrillRide for the Coasters' Choice Awards.

Just like television, there will always be several big players for coaster sites, with the occasional WB or UPN trying to make a dent. We all do have a niche.

I'll tell you what our strengths are, and they all center around the enthusiast community generating the content. I've said it a hundred times, CoasterBuzz thrives because of its contributors. People love to post news items because they see their name in lights, or they send hundreds of people to their own sites. The meeting calendar is unique, and we offered the first track record tool. The coaster and park databases grow continuously because visitors are filling in the gaps. The Coasters' Choice Awards were the biggest online coaster poll ever conducted. The forums are moderated so we don't have a lot of noise to deal with. The newswire adds content to other sites.

And wait until you see what's next... the return of a feature that used to be on another site, only this time it will appear on dozens of sites. Stay tuned...

Hello to everyone here at Coasterbuzz! I had to add my two cents to this topic and say that I agree completely with everything Jeff and many others have said. We're trying to make ThrillRide! as much fun to visit as possible, but there's NO WAY we'll ever be all things to all people. And I'll be the first to admit that Coasterbuzz will ALWAYS do many things better than ThrillRide! does.

The more, the merrier, indeed. Who'd want to live in a world with just one theme park? Or even one theme park chain? Healthy, friendly "competition" among coaster and park web sites is good for all and I hope Coasterbuzz, among others, continues to keep getting better and better, as I'm sure it will.

So to Jeff and everyone that contributes to Coasterbuzz, keep up the superb work! You're raising the bar for the rest of us every day. :)
Hey, it's great to have webmasters of other sites posting here! Well put, Bob. I have a screen name on ThrillRide! but have absolutely no intention of leaving CoasterBuzz. This site has given me a way to talk to other enthusiasts in a friendly, fun environment. I spend way too much time here, and don't plan on stopping any time too soon.

As long as ThrillRide! keeps on whippin' up those awesome, clever, keeps-me-reading, novelesque ride reviews, I'll keep on visiting!

Please do not get ME wrong the I like the site design. It is a nice and refreshing change to the site. Bob Coker did a great job at improving the site. I do like the history and database additions to the site. I just felt that the forums were difficult to use. Not the worst I have seen though. Please do not take it in offense. If I had ideas to make it better I would be more than happy to offer constructive/creative critiscism. I am signed up for their forums as well. It will take time to get used to it though. Since I have gotten so accustomed to how it is here. I am sure these forums were not an overnight success. Frankly I would not have found this site with Thrillride. So thank you to Thrillride for that. Also keep up the really EXCELLENT ride reviews. NO ONE has you guys beat on that.
