Is Storm Runner Doomed?

^^ How about the dreaded "purple nurple"? ;)

Maybe that wasn't the original point of the thread, but I guess I shifted the topic in that direction. Or at least tried.

We've got a low kiddie count here.

Yeah, I thought CB was known as the place old enthusiasts go to die. :)

Is that a morbid prediction?
one thing is that they chose a very similar color scheme for fahrenheit though... I don't really get that part...
It almost seems as if they wanted to make it appear as if the two are one coaster.

airtime for everyone
It's certainly the place where enthusiasm dies.

I don't know that I'd use childish to describe the community around here

Agreed. There's plenty about the posting here I'd like to see improve but I'd always take those things over

-40 page threads dedicated to "What was the last coaster you rode?"

-endless polls for things like "Which is better, Intamin or B&M??"

and the like. I don't really keep up with many other coaster boards but I think the culture here tends to drive off the childish pretty quickly, frankly. I mean when we get to the good stuff (or what I consider the good stuff) you're going to have to have a least a little bit of intelligence and point of view or you're going to be left out.

Which is then the point when you go to one of those other boards and post the 1000th entry in the "What is better CP or SFMM???" thread.

Couldn't have said it better myself, matt. :)

:)^I know you're making a joke but in all seriousness I don't want people to think I'm just singling out Toilet Paper Rollers just for the sake of singling somewhere out. It's really the only other board I'm super familiar with but I'm assuming much of what goes on their is the same as on other boards. I'm just guessing. *** Edited 10/1/2007 7:24:00 PM UTC by matt.***
Most message boards I've seen are pretty childish... lots of name-calling and fighting for the sake of fighting, all in internet chat shorthand and text message-esque stuff that really makes it all hard to read.

Gonch, you're a dick!

There, now that was childish.

But it's not childish if I am a dick...

...and I am. :)

I can be hard enough to read in long-hand, LOL...

TO be honest, as I stated elsewhere, I think Fahrenheit IS a bit *replicative* of what StormRunner does. Does this "doom" SR though?

In a way, it (Fahrenheit) will TEND to shorten the line, and the anticipated life-span, of SR. Tendencies are funny though, in that they only point out the general TRENDS, and don't give you any real help in determining what WILL happen in any given case...

It'd be nice if Fahrenheit shortened the line for Storm Runner, but Hershey seems to exist in a weird vaccuum where additional coasters do not lessen the lines on existing coasters. Wildcat's line was just as long when Great Bear opened, Great Bear's line was just as long when Lightning Racer opened, and so on. Hershey's an odd park that way.
