Is Mean Streak As Bad As Talked About?

Its funny how people gripe and moan about Mean Streak. I'm not saying its the best, nor am I saing its the worst. But come on, it seems some people here are afraid of what a true woodie does. Not all wooden coasters can be smooth or deliver airtime. I go on Mean Streak every year. I may even hit it more than one time in a day if Raptor or MF have unbelievable lines. Seems that if once a coaster gets rough, regardless of its designer, you people want it torn down and something new in its place.

Decisions Decisions...MLB or WWE. If you smell what I'm cooking, MLB ain't it.

After having a long history of lamenting the loss of the MS riding it on Friday night at the Coastermania was a real change. I must say that so far this year the ride has not been as rough as it was in the past. I especially enjoy the second last seat. I can even live with the trimmed first drop if they would let up on the block breaks.

Anyway, it really seems to me to be running as well as it has in at least five years. While not a great ride, even my wife (who has had a personal ban on the MS since her first ride five years ago) rode it three times on Friday and "has gainned a new respect for it". Plus there was even "air" on the drop leading into the blocks. Definately a plus!

I've been on MS every year I've been (the past 3 years)I enjoyed it until last year when i had the worst ride of my life, rough, slow, extremly painful, 3 brusies and a headach, i normally love rough rides,

I've riden SOB 18 times in one day and still felt great, I don't know why MS felt bad this one time, it seemed really slow\

I didn't find Mean Streak rough at all...and that was riding in the back car, even. Then again, I didn't find SoB rough either...I'd probably put MS just a tad below Beast, only because Beast's double helix at least as some good speed.(Jeremy, doesn't it seem like we consult each other before posting:)) Anyway, it's probably better that you go into the ride with no expectations, and just make your own opinion.
Last year, I rode back car in the 2nd week of June. I didn't love the ride, but when I got off, I thought it was fun. I probably wouldn't want to go on it again with all the other rides that I liked better, but if everything was closed, I would ride it again. It is pretty slow and shaky, but the shaking doesn't hurt. It isn't that thrilling, but it is kinda fun. Ride it to see your opinion on it.
Personally, I found it weak and slow. Have you ever been on SOB (last year, I mean)? If you have, the entire ride is sort of like the last three hills on it... would be a ton of fun if you were going fast enough to get some airtime on the hills and some positive g's on the valleys (i know that's not a common term... but maybe it should be ; )

I don't find this ride to be rough. I have compared it to the others and its one of the smoothest I've been on. The Problem I have with the ride is the Trim Breaks on the first drop. I realize that this is a preventive maintence issue but I also hate on how it makes the train slow down so abrutly. I think they would be bette off if they don't get rid of the breaks on the drop but please replace them with really smooth magnectic breaks.

Man, did you see all those Sea Gulls at CP? All Your Base are belong to us
That's not roughness that intensity

I like Mean Streak better than The Mantis. I find the Mantis to be incredibly painful (nothing but positive G's, it actually hurts my calvs a LOT). The Mean Streak is not "Beast" (my favorite wood coaster), but it's also no "Rattler" (from Fiesta Texas... worst, most boring, most annoying 'mega' wood coaster).

I've had mixed responses to Meanstreak. One year it was second to least favorite (after Mantis). Most of the rest of the years it's been solidly in the middle. Sometimes it seems a bit rough, sometimes it seems great and smooth. But that is the nature of wooden coasters: they're living beings, practically, and have good days and bad days.

The thng about Mean Streak is, it just looks so darn impressive from ground level. All that wood, the twists, the structure....it's just awe inspiring to me everythime I see it.

With that said, even though I do consider it a rough-rider and not a great ride, I still manage to ride her, trims and all, each time I hit the Point.

Guess if it didn't look so cool I wouldn't ride it once or twice a visit due to the "ouchie-ness". Stupid me :)

MS is a good ride, but with the trims, there is little air. In fact, the only air I found on it was the drop before the midcourse brakes. I do have to say I found the back smoother than the front... but in no way does it even come close to the Beast... even if its MS @ night with no lights vs Beast in the day...

Live on the edge and remember the Twist of Fate.

I realy enjoy riding Mean Streak. Everytime I go to ride it theres always short lines . If you sit in the front seat the ride is very smooth. It is slow in some areas. If they take out the trims, would be even nicer . Can Mean Streak run all 3trains without the trims?
