Seems like there are times when it makes sense to say "zero" and times when it makes sense to say "oh" - to me, 305 is an "oh"

I won't lie, that first turn is pretty intense. Ken suggested I do the pilot "squeeze" to fight the blood pooling. Fighter pilots apparently squeeze and tense up the muscles in their legs and butt to keep it from pooling, and sure enough, that works pretty well. Otherwise, my vision just got more and more tunneled until I got up to the negative G's on the second hill.
I so wished the ride photo cameras were at that spot.. Im sure we looked great :) But yeah, worked perfectly..
Though I must admit, the first ride Jeff and I had at the back of the train, the simultaneous gray out we both had was hilarious.. Especially when we both realized the other did it too.
Oh and im so watching the food network now.. Those Cake ladies were definite....eye candy?!? :)
Went back today for Auction ride and of course had to run into a gang of CP people.. ;)

That cake was great. CoasterDynamix is turning up everywhere! We were actually there fixing the big model in the souvenir shop, but managed to get a few rides in on I305 during Media day. We were hoping to meet Duff, but he had left by the time we got around to finding him. A guy from the production crew was taking some video. When I told him I was from CD, he goes "Oh, THIS CoasterDynamix" and pulls out his walkie talkie which has the Phoenix train stickers stuck on it to add some flair. Really cool experience, can't wait to see the episode.
I've got more photos on our Intimidator 305 page here in the database.

Wasn't it great to have your first ride televised via helicopter?

Your photos look great Jeff. Now im too intimidated to post mine.
The Helo scene was way cool. Its cool that every view was from our train, and not the silly cut an splice they tend to do. (Mostly on non-live feeds)

I camped out Thursday night and got to ride it Opening day. I can say that it really was nothing Special and the over head harness really is a bigger buzz kill! It's a pretty quick trip and really seems to be missing something. I left there and drove straight down to Carowinds. So I could compare it to the other Intimidator. It's sad to say but Carowinds has a better coaster and they have something I would want to reride over and over.
No I don't have a kid, but I still want to ride!

Sadness. I am not a fan of graying out at all. One of the biggest reasons I can't ride Titan or Shockwave more than once a trip.
I never ever grayed out on a coaster until I rode Goliath at SFMM last summer. I actually LOVED it! :)

Just got back in from our trip to KD and other parks. IMO I305 is too intense. The drop is great, but the transitions are too violet for the general public.
I rode it 6 times between Friday and Saturday morning. I greyed out most times before the second hill throws you in to the OTSR. After 6 laps on I305 my shoulders are bruised pretty good.
I would not be surprised if someone breaks there neck on this ride by the end of the season.

To me the best parts of this ride are over too quick. To me, the trim in the middle of the ride just kills the rest of the ride. I don't find the turns as bad as Maverick. Though maybe they would have been without the trim. (Catch 22?) Get rid of the trim and the OTSR and this would probably be my #1 steel.
I really enjoyed the ride. But, if us experienced riders are greying out on a regular basis, I can only imagine that a high percentage of the public is too. I rode 4 times and greyed out my first 2 times. The only reason I didn't the second 2 times is because I used the tensing techniques to prevent it. If I hadn't I would have certainly greyed out on all 4 circuits.

Interesting, guys. Maybe the park should post a "Tensing Technique" sign at the station?

I read a report that yesterday on I305 that a kid blacked out completely and came back to the station with a bloody nose from the restraints.
IMO Intimidator 305 is the new Son of Beast.
Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

Just came home from KD today and rode this beast 3 times, went back only the 3rd time to be able to hop up front. Being Easter Sunday the lines were pretty much irrelevant. There wasnt a "line guide" until late in the day i could literally see people begging to be able to sit in front however this woman was very adamant about not really caring and moving people to their assigned row. This was about 645pm. I had heard people throughout the park speak of this so-called "blackout" and didnt take it seriously until i got off the ride....
As we made our way down the ramp i noticed a mother leaning over her child (probably 13-15) asking if he was ok and he was holding his nose which was bleeding. I could see how this would beat up on shorter people, I rode the whole ride with my arms up and regret it (im 6'3" 225)
When we finally got down to the photo section we were browsing up top and there we see the same kid knocked out completely in the picture, literally hunched over in his seat passed out!! Once we pointed out the picture, it spread like wild fire, i requested to buy the picture and the girl said it was too late bc the next train pics had come through.Cody

While this is just a comment in their review. I can see this happening.

Standing in line for the ride and seeing it in action I was excited and hoped the whole concept of an MForce/Maverick hybrid would be the best of both worlds. In my opinion though, I don't think they succeeded.
I don't want to say it was a bad ride, but unlike my reactions to MForce and Maverick, I wasn't in any hurry to get back in line and ride i305 again.
Good Stuff
- Great first hill. The angle of ascent up the lift hill is insane and it goes very quickly.
- Line moved quickly even with a one train operation. It was a full line and we only waited a half hour the first time until it broke down just before we were to get on.
Bad Stuff
- The OTSR's ruin this coaster. There are a lot of quick/fast transitions and I think it's only a matter of time before someone gets hurt.
- Gray outs. All of us experienced this on the first helix, which ruined the rest of the ride.
- Speed/trims. I realize it's supposed to be a fast ride, and I love speed, but overall, it's not managed well on this coaster. The first helix was too fast (see previous point) and later on in the ride, as we were coming up to what was obviously an airtime hill, a trim kicked in, killing the great floater air (I even exclaimed some expletive at that point). I love quick transitions and turns (a la Maverick or El Toro's infield) but I felt the speed was too great on this ride to enjoy them.
I think it was telling that the line for i305 was only a 30-45 min wait, and the line for Volcano was substantially longer (we waited over an hour).
I am sure there will be some tweaking that will happen over the course of this season, and I'm interested to see if there will be adjustments made in the future.
