Intamins new woodie

I noticed that, too, superman. It looks like the transition is so fast the cars swing one way and then the track contorts so fast the cars don't have time to catch up immediately.

I don't think this has been posted before but here is a video for those who were confused with the layout like I was. Some pretty impressive stats too.

^ cool - I really like how the ride surprises you with damn deep drops several times.
I hope the intense s-curve at the beginning will be smooth.
It is really strange that there is this brake run right at the beginning when so much comes after it... but the layout looks fabulous.
It's a astonishing what can be done with NoLimits these days ...

The more I see, the more I salivate over this ride.

Nice to see a vid of this. It's one thing to imagine how these great drops and curves will be. Something else to visualy have some sort of an idea of what this vid provides. Though the real thing might offer something a little different, it's nice tho have a lasting idea in my head now. Just hating myself I can't travel like some of the rest of you. Newborns just cut that out of the mix right now. But that takes a back seat to being a daddy and i am so not bitter). Anyway... Can't wait to see how this visually stunning ride turns out!!

The more I think about it and look at the pictures the more I feel that this ride is going to push certain limits -
first, the toothpicklike thin woodbars it's made from, then the crazy figure-8 on the ground after the second drop with that strange lateral nudge...
The speed and radius look like it may put Goliath&SFMM to shame in terms of intensity -
both of these things make me hope they know what they are doing...

Do keep in mind that that video is in no way official, so if previous Intamin woodies are anything to go by, that 'strange lateral nudge,' if it exists at all, will almost definitely be actually rather free of lateral Gs.

It is a great video though, much better than most fan-made NoLimits precreations.

Does anyone know if these prefab coasters are alot smother than the way other coasters are built?

^ Go take a ride on El Toro,,, you will see the difference in smoothness.

jwhoogs - yes, they're definitely smoother. As good as El Toro, Balder, and others are the complaint from "wood coaster fans" is that they don't feel like wooden coasters at all but rather steel coasters.

yep - an actual train on the actual track - looks like the thing really works.

What a great timing: As soon as the dancers disappear the train can be seen on the lift. And the sound of the upstop wheels is a crescendo to the music and the drums.

This is essentially what I thought of El Toro before riding. After riding it, however, I have every reason to believe you have nothing to worry about on this new coaster. The s-turns on Toro were as smooth as butter, and after navigating them I wondered how it was possible to careen through them at such ridiculous speeds, somehow without being thrown all over the place.

El Toro was the most intense coaster I've ever ridden. It was a different kind of intensity, though. It's far from the painful kind of intensity you feel after a lot of headbanging and shuffling. It's probably closer to the rough, shaky, out-of-control intensity felt on some of the best woodies out there, minus the rough, shaky part. It's hard to describe, as these Intamin prefabs--to me--are a different breed of coaster. They don't feel like wood or steel, IMO.

The problem with El Toro is that it DOESN'T throw you around. IMO, laterals and the freedom to move around in your seat are what make a wood out & back better than a steel out & back. And a little roughness gives you more of a sense of being out of control. I was thinking the exact same thing seeing that POV. In the animation it hardly stopped, which I realize are never told accurate. But I thought the exact opposite, that it went through too fast. But seeing the POV, it was the exact opposite. It almost stopped, and crawled to the next hill. Granted it still tore through rest of the course, at what looked to be a good and appropriate speed... so who knows...
