I have not ridden either one, SoB or a new Intamin, but since a "large woodie" thread has come around, may I be the first to say "Mean Streak sucks!" ;)

I will repeat what I said earlier: that reports coming from those who went on the ACE trip to Europe said Colossus was fun but way too smooth for a wooden coaster...that it was missing that characteristic wood "feel."
Also, it's way too early to tell if Intamin's new track style requires less maintenance.

You can't expect Intamin to build one in the US until a park wants one! So far that has not happened.

well yeah. i realize that. im wondering why no one wants an intamin woody, there are a ton of intamin steel coasters.
wouldnt sob have been a perfect candidate to be an intamin, smooth, heavily banked turns. he he.

About Balder, due to a pretty twisted layout and intense airtime hills, I'm very happy that it's smooth as a steelie. And since it has been built I've been thinking. Should we really compare these new types of wooden coasters with the other "normal" woodies? I mean, they have never felt like a "real" woodie and they'll probably never do. So I see them as their own type of coasters but for now, there's only two of them :)
thats kind of what i am wondering about, if it feels like a steel coaster and has similar elements, why make it out of wood?
are they really THAT smooth? as in, no shakes at all?

Looking at rcdb.com, it shows that there is a third post-2000 Intamin woodie, Elf in Osaka, Japan. Anyone know if this is a "plug-and-play" type or an older type?
It's the older type. Not a bad thing....one of my favorite coasters is a 1994 Intamin woodie :)

Obviously, I've lost my mind. :) I promise never to jump on the hijacking bandwagon again, and for penance, I'll say 3 Hail Marys and 2 Hello Dollys, as recommended by Eddie Izzard....
