whos ridden a modern intamin woody? they look so crazy, like here. http://www.rcdb.com/installationgallery988.htm?Picture=20

what was it like, the feel, the speed etc. different than other wooden coasters youve ridden?

That woodie is pretty darn fast! 74.6 MPH! I think the fastest woodie i have ever ridden was about top speed 60 mph.

That ride looks amazing i would love to ride that.

Your Park only has 1 good coaster! That's too bad!

SOB is faster.

Yup, it's one fast SOB.

IIRC the word from the ACE Europe trip contingent was that Colossus was fun but was missing that characteristic woody "feel."

I'd like to try a next gen. intamin woodie, the only one that I know I've been on is American Eagle @ SFGAm, and I loved it. Now when will the States get one!?

The question beomes is the technology any different really from the laminate board system Charlie Dinn tried to implement in the early 80's? We all know how that turned out. *cough* Wolf Bobs *cough*

SoB features "layout issues" other than the loop....pretty sure the others have *better* layouts for that kind of speed....YMMV....;)
If you consider the fact that with those awful trains and with that kind of speed Sonny should undoubtedly be an out and back, you are exactly right Bill.

The logic pervayed when the descion was made to slap three bench trains that don't track worth a darn on a coaster that is nothing but turns really fails me.

Actually if anyone has ridden SOB lately it has takena compelte turn around, it is a little smoother and it has air time now. Kudos to PKI.

A complete turnaround? That has to be the most comedic comment I have read in a week, thanks for the laugh ;)

I agree with Magnum. Even if it is smoother and has air, the trains still suck.
So are you saying that SOB was worse than it is now? Just rode it for the first time this past Wednesday and I couldnt wait for the ride to end.

Of course I am 6ft 2in. tall and that didnt help the situation. I have a knot on my knee thanks to SOB. :(

6'2", 5'10", 5', it doesn't matter Scott. It hurts no matter who you are.

LOL Brent.

It makes the situation worse when you are tall especially with that small grab bar. My knees were hugging that bar and as soon as the shuffling began, my leg smacked it violently.

Believe it or not, my daughter got a kick out of the ride. She is short enough, so it didnt leave her any bruises.

So, what have we learned.....the world's fastest (and only looping) woodie.....is really only a good ride for children...should it be relocated to PKI's kiddie area?

Ask my daughter why she liked it gator. I cant understand it myself. :)

She walked off giggling while I was limping down the exit. Life works in mysterious ways. :)

Well the kiddie rides all shuffle like heck at PKI as well. Riding Reptar and watching the guide wheels shuffle back and forth against the track and back off it is a real hoot.

Sonny hurts my knees terribly excpet in seat 1-2, the shuffling doesn't start until after the first car and riding off the axle helps a lot. But man out of 18 rows only one is really rideable. Great ride PKI, great ride.

Yeah, Reptar is another one. No bruises from it but the whole train shuffled back and forth. If this was a normal SLC, it would have been a seriously messed up ride.
