Intamin Stand Up Photo on website???

And don't forget Cobra at La Ronde.

I've been on it a bunch of times as it's my home park and I went on Iron Wolf this summer. IW seems like an extended version of Cobra. I could definitly see the similarities.

To make things more complicated, remember that Werner Stengel was involved, to varying degrees, on many of Intamin's (and Schwarzkopf's, GTec and B&M's) rides.

The design of the tracks clearly stem from the original Schwarzkopf track style/s.

Schwarzkopf coasters used two main track styles. The first, and most commonly associated with Schwarzkopf, is the circular spine track. Seen on rides like [url="http://rcdb.com/installationgallery95.htm?Picture=1" target="_blank">Scorpion or Texas Tornado (incidently, both top quality Joe Schwarz photos). Then there was their other style of track, I guess could be referred to as their 'flat track', seen on Revolution or Sooperdooperlooper, this track is also found in most of the transfer tracks etc of most Schwarzkopf coasters.

It is obvious that Intamin's current track, is based on the flat style of track. Intamin does take some credit for Revolution, as they were I believe involved somewhat in the project. B&M's track however would be said to be very similar to the spined track, just on a bigger scale, hence using an exponentially larger backbone. I'm just guessing, but I'd assume that the Intamin and Schwarzkopf track is similar or the same in guage, also guessing that B&M's is much larger, with bigger rails too.

So what if the best coaster in Australia is a second hand Arrow?

Giovanola was the main partaker in research and development department for the Intamin stand ups and the first set off B&M stand ups(Iron Wolf and the Vortexs), and Intamin is responsible for construction and manufacturing. Claude Mabillard led the design team.

I believe Walter Bolliger managed the either entire operation or just the construction, but he's the one that I'm unsure of.

Part of Claude Mabillard's team are at G-Tec now, but I still don't know how Walter came into the picture.....

Here's the complete (to my knowledge) list of Intamin coasters with box-type spine:

Batman The Escape @ SFAW, formerly Shockwave @ SFGAdv, formerly Shockwave @ SFMM, built in 1987.
Cobra @ La Ronde, formerly (?) @ Skara Sommarland, built in 1987.
Flashback @ SFMM, formerly Z-Force @ SFoG, built in 1988.
Shockwave @ Drayton Manor, built in 1994.

Track Record: 116

Cobra, when its was at Skara Sommarland was simply called.... Stand-up.

What was cool with it was the color scheme of the loop, red and white alternating if I remember. Cobra is now green with black supports.
