Insanity ride opens atop Stratosphere

The Stratosphere's Insanity has opened atop the tower, high above the Las Vegas strip. A local TV station has posted video.

Don't hesitate. Eat a banana and ride it. ;)
According to Strat officials, that is the last ride they can put on the tower. Those last 2 rides cause a tremendous amount of stress on the structure. As for Paul, he writes for Park World, which is an European based magazine. They are at IAAPA and other shows. Its expensive to get, and circulation is focused to parks and suppliers. Its has some great photos in it. Its strength is the fact it is a bit larger than other formats, so the photos are larger.

As for Paul, he is a nice enought guy, and has never forced the ACE theology on me. However, I do not understand the banana joke, and second, I myself spend enough time in Vegas, as most of you know, that being it was a local news channel, you could have had a host of other local 'talent and characters' on the news. Example: Mayor Goodman, Bob Stupak (former Strat owner), Siegfried and Monteclore, Wayne Newton, and the list goes on.

Meh, spent a couple hours waiting in line Thurs nite RIGHT before it closed due to 28mph winds...and a couple more (with no line, LOL) Friday waiting for it to open but they couldn't get it running before we had to head to Solace. Sensors/seat locks issues kept them from re-opening until later on Friday. The rides I saw Thursday nite LOOKED, well, insane....and I'll go back to the Strat next time I find myself in Vegas.

The rides mgr. was REALLY awesome and friendly, and even apologetic, LOL, but who wants to get STUCK on the ride some 1150' above the Strip...malfunctions at that height are best to keep in the "better safe than sorry" category... ;)

P.S. X-Scream, aka Depends:The Ride....prob won't do THAT again...definitely not in the front again! You need the credit, I'll ride row 2 and YOU ride in the front... :)

P.P.S. KristinMarie and cedarit didn't even get to SEE it running I don't think, but they DID wait out the Fri. morning "non-ride" session...just SITTING on the platform while High Roller shakes the top of the tower is pretty *thrilling* to me...I do NOT like heights! ;)

Jeff Sez:
Anyway, that's pretty, uh, insane. I have to be honest that I'm not sure if I'd be able to get on that ride.

Don't worry, I doubt very many people will get to ride this ride. "Hey, lets put a ride on top of the Stratosphere that can't run in 25mph winds, on a 1000ft tower...in the middle of the desert...where the wind blows HARD all the flippin' time!"

Yeah, that was real smart. *grumbles* At least XScream rocked my socks 3 times, and Big Shot 2...

Although getting denied multiple attempts at riding Insanity was rather disappointing, the real disappointment was finding out that the special 'bungee-jump platform' that Mr. Sean Flaharty told me about was really just... a window-washing platform. Bah!
