Insanity Mishap

im with coasterbuzzer on this one. He mentioned that he is scared of heights but not on coasters. I for one am one of those people, i go on drop rides, but this one is like only about 800 feet higher than the tallest ones. Something i probably wouls shy away from.

Resident Arrow Dynamics Whore

To clear up above post i know its not a drop ride

Resident Arrow Dynamics Whore

Apparently the wind was blowing so hard they couldn't hear the workers from the deck of the tower, so they called 911. The call is linked below.

I wouldn't mind being stuck on the ride for an hour in nice conditions, but in this case the winds were gusting 50mph and the girls were freezing. I can't imagine enjoying that, no matter how good the view is.

What I don't get is how they didn't have a contingency for what to do if the ride stopped out there.

You'd think that would definately be something to work out before installing it over 900 feet in the air.

Anybody else think that this added onto the whole Frequent Faller fiasco might end up putting this company under? Insanity and X-Scream are their biggest completed sales to date, right?

Saw the news report on TV last night. Cracked me up the way the two girls said "They'd never go on a rollercoaster again".

When did rollercoaster become a synonym for the word "ride"?

I know this isn't a huge story. But the idea that the company built this ride on top of the Stratosphere and the fact that it doesn't appear to have a contingency to get people off the ride when it shuts down is laughable. Sure they managed to do it after an hour and a half, but that's not a scenario that many people want to experience. This is a board filled with coaster and thrill ride nuts and the majority here wouldn't want to experience this, why would your average Joe citizen be any different.

So if I owned or ran an amusement park and I only know of X-Scream, Insanity and the Frequent Faller fiasco, why would I feel confident in purchasing a ride from this company? Especially considering their rides haven't been that spectacular of concepts, they've just been put in great locations.

You have to build your reputation in this industry and so far this company (name's escaping me at the moment) hasn't done a great job promoting itself. It's not like they are rakeing in the money. Little things could easily derail a small company like this. Heck, CCI didn't last and they were the best thing going. You've got to make money to stay afloat.

They won't cooperate at 3 in the morning? That is just rude.

Down is the new up.

Maybe I'm just being optimistic, but I think we will be seeing a lot from them in the future.

However, that Frequent Faller situation was pretty rough. If they can recover from that and start proving themselves to be strong competitors in the industry, I think they can do well.

Now if Intamin had designed Insanity and had the same problem, I think things would be different. Intamin has been around for a while. They shouldn’t make mistakes like that. That doesn't mean Interactive SHOULD but still, they are rather new and an incident like this MAY be "forgiven". Not to mention Intamin has a reputation for sometimes looking over safety factors.

I just don't think Interactive has done enough wrong to be dismissed yet.

I actually think the opposite. The other companies have been test proven, not that they have been reliable in the past but they have made good on what they have built. The last thing Interactive needed is this stupid and actually a nothing happenning, except that it was 900+ feet in the air.

Had they not had the stupid exchange with Hershey, and after reading the briefs from both, this can be blamed on either party, or even be a case of both at fault. Yet, Hershey has that name over years and this is the problem Interactive has to overcome.

Can it? That is a question that is ongoing, what will multiple lawsuits do to the company? Interactive looked like a company ready to go over the edge, when it did, it went kaput, at least for their rides.

If Interactive can sell anythig now, that will be important to watch. If they get no sales for 06 or 07, they are dead in the water.
