well, the plane tickets are here (well, in e-format)....but X, Xcelerator, and a side trip to Vegas are scheduled Sept 13-18th...I'll post to the meeting calendar, but my first X ride should occur 9/13 at approx. 4-5 pm, assumin LA-type traffic (ack!) and SFMM-style lines (ach!)....but I WILL ride this sucker....got about a dozen pics of track/trains, even picked up a shirt...(I know it's a type of *blasphemy* to own a shirt for a ride you haven't been on, but I'm reformed, not a fundamentalist or anything, LOL)....
bill, knowing Saturday at SFMM may be *deadly* for lines, but hoping plenty of enthusiasts show for the X-party on Saturday AT opening....it may not be my "maiden voyage", but if you want to get in on that, you gotta be there on Friday.....it's not like I could be Xpected to hold off or anything, delayed gratification is not my gig.....
Have a great time! Hope you enjoy all the rides out there. Have the time of your life!

I've heard about the RIO buffet too. Supposed to be freakin' good. Also supposed to be freakin' award winning stuff ;)
thanks everybody...I've put on about 20-25 lbs. this past year, so I'll try not to enjoy the buffet TOO much...it happens in your 30s, they all said, and I laughed....for awhile...;)...we'll definitely hit Stratosphere at night....and with my fear of heights, I'll be sure and bring a spare pair of "undergarments"...what's "the deal" with Desperado and Manhattan Express...Desperado first, right? Also interested in Speed:The Ride and AdventureDome info, as well as any other Vegas tips....
Been to SoCal before a couple times, but I'm wondering about any possibility of finally getting one spin on Flashback....I'm willing to do virtually *ANYTHING* for just one trip on that sucker...any of you have any "pull" with Andy Gallardo or Del Holland...j/k, sort of....really it's the coaster I've seen the most without ever getting to ride - well behind PF....argh! But X...it's special....I am not at all convinced it's fixed "for good", and the opportunity presented itself...
Xcelerator will be fun and exciting, I'll consider it a "preview" of some other future coaster that might just POP up somewhere this offseason...you never know....;). But seriously, I'll spend a LOT more time riding Monte....GR will probably be sporting long lines, too....
Also, any DisneyLand ticket deals available...short trip, but I gotta pack in what I can...

Gator: I read all about how bad your trip here was to Con... I think this time will make up for it.
Knotts should be empty, as in walk ons for everything including Ghostrider, Supreme Scream and certainly Xcelerator! I went all the time afterschool last year, and I can tell you that there is no better time to go than on a September weekday. Like I said, expect all walk ons!
As for SFMM, I would assume that there is a good chance of Flashback being open. Hurricane Harbor should close for the season on Monday, so after that (barring any staffing concerns) Flashback should be consistently open.

rollergator i was almost envious of your trip then i realized my frequent flier miles are spent and i'm off to do X this week, it time permits i'll drop by KBF, but after X I'm ready to roll out to Vegas. Sept 4-10 are my dates... Darn we missed each other by a couple of days...
be safe...
mmmm Rio buffet IS good :-D
Wish you luck getting on X.... my brother flew out there from Boston and it happened to be closed the day he visited [this was after the whole re-opening thing... signs everywhere saying "X Now Open!"...].. sucks for him, and hope it doesn't hapeen to you (LOL, I probably just ruined your spirits ;).. DONT GET YOUR HOPES UP, YOU PROBABLY WONT GET TO RIDE.... [jkjkjk]) it is definitly a ride you will never forget.... have fun!

I hear a train a comin'
Comin' round the bend :P
TR2k3....GET READY!
CFM, the Con really wasn't that bad...X was a known disappointment, but certainly undersatandable...Adventure City was great....the sad part was the "treatment" at KBF, but I know how to fix the probkem this time....not ID'ing myself as an enthusiast........it sounds like everything there is "back to normal" anyway, just *Knott* sure why they wanted to host an ACE event there...even the stapling was kinda understandable given the PP incident and enthusiasts' rep, but their attitude....that I will *Knever* get....
But if Flashback is open, I get to ride X, Xcelerator and "Goastrider", and Monte is up and running, then anything that I get to do in Vegas is just gravy....:)

Thats good to hear you are going to give it another try. I just don't think Knotts made a very good impresion with anyone during Con, and I am sure that the service and park itself will be more to your liking this time around. The thing is that I work at Knotts, and it feels bad to me that some one's experience was less than satisfactory, particularly at a national event like Con...
And yes, I feel like things are starting to get back to normal there. The stapling thing seems to have died down for the most part.

CFM, believe me, I will always "call it like I see it"....(I think of it as my own sort of twisted version of integrity)....the problems with ACE at CoasterCon came from the top-down, not the other way around.....the management decisions were absolutely and completely questionable(abhorrent?), and *those I trust* (TM) saw it similarly....
My visit in '00 was GREAT, and I happily recommended the park to MANY others...(not like I hold back on my opinions, LOL)...the TV commercials run then only serve to reinforce my belief, and the ops procedures likewise.....not one train dispatched in 2 days that didn't stack....and not one rider left the station unstapled...the best ops I wouldn't even call attention to, for fear that they violated some warped policy established for the ACE visit.....it was THAT "messed up".....
