If you could bring back one roller coaster...

"but I NEVER got to ride drachen fire..."

I did. It was fun, but nothing amazing. I rode it twice and moved on to Big Bad Wolf and Nessie, who were [are] much better.

Trust me...all you really missed was a credit.

I can sympathize with all of those who saw Drachen Fire SBNO... I know what its like to be so close to a coaster but not have the opportunity to ride it. I'm not faulting anyone for wishing that Drachen Fire could be rebuilt, as there are a ton of "crappy" coasters that I would love to see rebuilt just so I could ride them once! All I'm trying to say is, despite the fact that it was a cool-looking coaster, my opinion is that it wasn't as good as it should have been. Honestly... go ride Hulk at IOA- it has the mid-air inversion after the "lift hill" and a Cobra Roll (similar to Arrow's Batwing), so the experience is probably similar to what Arrow had tried to do but wasn't able to. *** Edited 1/23/2004 7:45:53 PM UTC by Rob Ascough***
Rob hit the nail on the head, it is that feeling of being so close. But then again, I love arrow coasters, no matter how rough. I must say that The Great American Scream Machines is still one of my favorite steel coasters, despite its roughness, along with many rough arrow coasters. I just love the feel of a real tough steel coaster that beats the **** out of you. As it turns out, the 8 consecutive rides on Son Of beast in the pouring rain was EXTREMELY painful, my kidneys felt like they were gonna rupture and my face and hands felt like they had just gone through a war against thumb tacks, but I had fun on it and its one of my favorite woodies!! For some reason I am atracted greatly to this coaster. The beauty is extremely strong, the story, sadness, and all else just ads to this.
You don't like to wear leather and handcuffs do you? ;)

I wasn't trying to sound flippant or cold-hearted. I've been close only to miss, too.

I missed [P]KI's The Bat by less than a week. It sucks, but sometimes that's life. Despite coming so close to riding The Bat it would not be the one coaster I'd choose to bring back. From everything I've heard it was not that great a ride. I don't think I really missed anything that spectacular.

I'll never get to ride Wizard's Cavern, either. I was supposed to go the Jersey Shore last summer but missed it due to unforseen circumstances. I'd planned on riding it this summer, but its gone. Nothing much I can do about it. Life goes on.

The coasters I'd like to see rebuilt - or, rather, the coasters I will rebuild if S&D Greetings becomes so big that my own park becomes a reality - would be some lost great woodies like many have mentioned in this thread. The ones that were long gone before I was born.

No, i wear leather and handcuffs, im 16!!!! I do wear a leather jacket though, but thats beside the fact. You just gotta be a man, take a little abuse. Get brused up or get ur head a little shook around. You know. None of that "OHH, its soo smooth!!!" BS. Thats great and all, but i also like a break and getting my as* kicked! Why do you think woodies are so great!
Well I like SOB because it *didn't* kick my ass.

I was quite surprised.

That was a bad joke on my part MF29. I was only kidding you anyways, hence the winking face. Please except my apology if I offended you. I do respect your opinion...well sort of. ;)

Jon

Well a lot of people have said some of the obvious coasters, so I will throw an odd one out there...Black Widow that was at SFNE before the Premier era...I only say that because of it's nostalgic value to me..It was my first coaster.

No further explanation needed. I'm hopelessly lost.
lol, I knew you were kidding. I was just responding to your joke. I didn't take it at offence at all, I laughed. and that was, no, I DON'T wear.... just so your not confused. LOL. Internet, ya gatta love it.
HERCULES! my favorite woodie that was just torn down this year, even though it hurt, they could of reconfigured the track to make it fun. Even though it has been gone only about 4 months, it was very fun this year.

DRACHEN FIRE! This ride looked so fun with the cutback corkscrew and the cobra roll.

Rye Playland's Airplane Coaster!
From everything I've heard it was not that great a ride. I don't think I really missed anything that spectacular.

Right on Moosh! I rode The Bat multiple times (4-10??---I was young). Believe me, you missed very little. It offered almost zero sensations of forces on the body! Had the Bat endured, we would have never had Vortex! Although Vortex is your standard Arrow variety looper. It is, was, and always has been a much better ride than The Bat IMO!

If they rebuilt The Bat today, I shudder to think of what the posts on here would be like! Think SOB, Rattler, etc......It would get ugly!

Thrillerman he said ONE not a novel! ;)
Would of liked to taken a ride on Drachen Fire and the old Steel Phantom (Phantom's Revenge is still worth every penny they spent on to fix it).
But one I would like to see brought back is the old Corkscrew at SFWoA that was there during the Geagua Lake years and have it put back in its old spot where Mind Eraser is. Granted one's an Arrow and the other's an Vekoma, least I didn't get a pounded headache on the old Arrow corkscrews.

Puritas Springs Cyclone - for its unbelievable use of the parks terrain and an infamous first drop.

The PSC was legendary for it's final 90 foot drop into a ravine not it's first drop. If you have No Limits I have a pretty decent recreation of it, terrain and all over at http://www.negative-g.com

On this topic I'd have to go with riding the Bobs and the rest of the six or so other wooden coasters at Riverview when it closed!

Have Fun!

Are you sure that Americas Greatest Rollercoasters Vol#1 has drachen fire on it? /quote]
You get Drachen Fire, as well as the Steel Phantom. I agree that it was frustating to look at D.F. on my last two visits also, but I just tried to put it out of my head, and enjoy the other coasters.
Puritas Springs' Cyclone tops my list, with the Idora Wildcat and Steel Phantom close behind.
Cyclone has to be one of, if not the best terrain coasters of all time, It was huge, not just the two 90 foot drops, but the length and ride itself was just massive for a ride built in that time.
Steel Phantom was also a great terrain coaster with one of the greatest drops [which still exists] of all time. It was also the ride that led Kennywood to add rides of the 90's, like Pittfall, Pittsburgh Plunge, and Exterminator.
Coasters deserving honorable mention are Drachen Fire, Moonsault Scramble, and Knoebel's Jet Star. I know you are saying "What?! Jet Star? I say that because had Jet Star not have been removed, there would be no Whirlwind ;). *** Edited 1/25/2004 5:10:37 AM UTC by TalonJosh1491***
