If you could bring back one roller coaster...

Everyone has chosen...wisely. CB Cyclone is the most noted, but the Bat was a wicked ride. On my only lap on the famed coaster, I rose the next day to find my 14 year old body a little tight after my cranium took at crack on the harness. After looking at the Airplane Coaster hanging on my office calendar (thanks Moosh!), I would enjoy riding it.

As for Coasterqueen's Jumbo Jet, all we would have to do is hop on a plane to Guadalajara where it gives rides daily to thrill seekers.

But, it's just not the same without the beach behind it. *sigh* Thanks for the trip down memory lane, Tina!

There's nothing like a woodie...

I'd have to agree with the Traver nominations. I would think I'd prefer the Aeroplane or the Riverview Bobs, but only out of curiousity. I doubt I'd actually enjoy any of those rides, as they were indeed beautiful, but hadn't risen to the standards of engineering we see today. Then again, I can put my foot in my mouth with engineering given Mean Streak or SOB. Hmmm....

Ok, I talked myself out of my own argument! I say the Aeroplane. GCI, bring it back. Just make it safe.

As for the Mr. Twister, I'd love to see what that was REALLY like. I love the Twister at Knoebels, and I have to admit that is one wild ride. I heard Mr. Twister made the Knoebels ride look like a bowl of stale chocolate pudding, or whatever that was in my pants at PPP. ;)

The Flying Turns makes all the right people wet - Gonch

I would probably say the Tornado at Coney Island (NY) or the Bobs at Riverview. Heck, I would give anything to walk around Coney Island circa 1925 and not ride a thing.

I always find these threads a bit interesting because people jump to say the CB Cyclone (or anything by Traver or P&C) while so many enthusiasts seem to complain when a wooden coaster isn't perfectly smooth and/or violent.

OK, here we go again.....

I'd have to start with the Savin Rock Thunderbolt (the one prior to 1938). Although the Revere Beach Cyclone and Hastings Park Giant Dipper were basically the same ride as the Savin Rock TBolt, I like the fact that it was built on a pier over the ocean.

Next up would be the Palisades Park, Lake Placid Bobsled. Supposedly the fiercest of the Flying Turns.

And while I'm at Palisades, let's take the Traver Cyclone. This version was built in a slightly smaller footprint, making the spirals a bit tighter, resulting in more extreme forces.

My last choice is the famous Cyclone Racer, Long Beach, CA. This coaster looks fascinating to say the least. Plenty of video footage floating around from old movies and TV shows is certainly proof of that!

To hell with bringing back the coasters, let's bring back Schwartzkoph!

Hmm....Which ever one had the most air. Possibly the Wildcat at Idora, since it seems to have some SUDDEN drops.

And to all who say CB Cyclone, who actually want to ride it, I say good luck not hurting yourself!

I Have to agree about the Cyclone Racer in California. It looked like an amazing coaster from the pictures I've seen of it.

Drachen Fire with Tennessee Tornado technology.

The Ravine Flyer at Erie's Waldameer Park. It had the usual loops and drops on the park side, then crossed over a major highway taking vacationers out to the 14 miles of beaches on Presque Isle, raced around and rose and fell several times through the woods, then crossed back over the bridge, going through two drops and a helix before entering the station. The Beast, Mean Streak, Shivering Timbers, and Legend might surpass it today, but 60 years ago none of those were around, and Ravine Flyer was the only true terrain coaster running.

What a great idea but I would bring back Miller and Traver, imagine what they could do with todays technology.

2022 Trips: WDW, Sea World San Diego & Orlando, CP, KI, BGW, Bay Beach, Canobie Lake, Universal Orlando

Chaos at opryland. That thing was one of a kind. The 80 passenger trains come to mind.

Runner up Steel Phantom.

The Millenium Force ride Ops: Squishing you where it counts since 2000. Track Record: 89 coasters
Windjammer Surf Racers (just without all those mechanical problems). And I'm serious too.
Orient Express
I would probably have to say Drachen Fire, Hercules, and Orient Express. I was a year late to ride Drachen Fire, Im 15 and my first visit to the park was 99'. To bad. Ever since seeing that ride from the train that day at the park and wondering, why isn't that open? Then realizing over the next few years its fate and having to look from fest haus through the gates and down to this great coaster. Im always looking at the photos of this thing and the videos. Hercules, I was supposed to ride at Dorney last year, but I never maid it, and lost that ride for good. I also have loved looking at pics of that first drop on Hercules. It just looked great. Orient Express I've always loved, especially that double lockin loops. But that too, I have missed out on. O well.
Python (sfa) because I want to ride it. *** Edited 1/22/2004 9:37:09 PM UTC by SixFlagsAmericaFan***
I cast my vote for anything Herb Schmeck-related. His three infamous Wildcats (Idora, Rocky Springs and Lake Side) all rank high, as do the Meyers Lake Comet, Bertrands Wildcat and pretty much anything else he had a hand in. If I was going to bring back to life a non-Schmeck, I'd take the Rye Airplane or Riverview Bobs.

Rob loves Schmeck! Rob loves Schmeck!

mOOSH - loves Schmeck, too! ;)

I guess I would have to go with the Idora Park Wildcat too. Truth be told I have never heard too much about it until this thread. It seems like it was wild when it existed. According to RCDB, this ride operated until 2001. What happened? *** Edited 1/22/2004 10:15:28 PM UTC by Antuan***

Fate is the path of least resistance.

'Tuan - the coaster was SBNO from 1984 until 2001, when it was demolished.
If i could bring back one coaster it would be Drachen Fire i would bring this coaster back in a heartbeat. This was my favrote coaster of all time and now that it is torn down i will never go to Busch Gardens again.I only got to ride it a few time but everytime was great i loved this ride so much i road it having food poison.Thank god for Americas Greatest Rollercaosters Vol#1 because I still have a chance to see the coaster and ride in the front seat.Drachen Fire is the best and in my mind will always be the best
I agree Drachen Fire was great its ashame nobody would have rebuilt it this is the reason i will never go back to Busch Gardens
I`d bring back the Greyhound at Lakewood Fairgrounds in ATL.It was a 1915 John Miller coaster I believe. It`s the one seen in the Smokey and the Bandit movies. It was destroyed in part 2.
