Ice Dragon is SBNO for a while

Funny how this has only come up right now after 2 years of the ride operating perfectly OK. This could only means that the supports were quite weak

In other words, they were fine when built, but over time, they would weaken very slighty, Could this mean that Univeral were being cheap in the supports for the coaster, I actually heard that they run out of money for this coaster and it was meant to be longer, so they finished it off cheaply. NAUGHTY,NAUGHTY UNIVERSAL Serves you right.(I am not saying this did happen, but it is a good guess as to how it might have happened)

Anyway, Lets hope Universal get this coaster back up and running ASAP, Can you imagine riding Fire Dragon without Ice on the Track, it wont be the same with the Duelling. It will be so weird.
I think it must be something specifically with Ice, not with the land it's standing on, otherwise why wouldn't Fire be down as well? If the land were unstable, or the situation were very dire (as in involving severe reconstruction of Ice) I would think they'd close Fire as well. But at least we know it will reopen!

Must be worse than even universal expected, i was there this previuos Thursday and the ride ops were expecting Ice to be back online Friday.

Incendently the longest the line got on Thursday was 20 mins, but it was a pretty nice rain all day. I begining to love theme parks when it's raining out, i'm willing to get and cooled off rather than sit in lines in the Florida sun :)

That sucks. They're probably talking about the land under the Carousel after the drop.

Whew! For a sec I thought it's footers had concrete cancer. That would've meant dismantling the ride & re-pouring the footers. (Which would've taken more than 3 weeks obviously).

Say, I had a thought. Instead of pulling apart a ride that needs new footers can engineers jack up one support at a time to re-pour the footer rather than pulling the ride apart??
I know the track is built to have a certain amount of give to accommodate the stresses of the ride, but I don't know if it would have THAT much give -- it might be more trouble than it's worth, with the tests they'd have to do to make sure the integrity wasn't compromised.

Yeah, CrystalKat, that is what I was thinking. If there were problems with the land under DD, it would seem like the fire side would have problems too. But who knows?

Why didn't this happen on Fire?
