i want to ride mean streak but..

Mean Streak is not the best and it is not the worst its just a regular wooden coaster. I think people dont like it because cedar point builds awesome coasters and people really think its stinks just because its not as good as other wooden coasters. And they think a coaster at cedar point should be the best. Just because it is cedar point.
I didn't think the ride was rough at all. It was just very slow.
I agrew tih some who said its boring. the first half of the ride is preety fun but after you hit the brakes and stop up in the air for sometime in that brake run the ride just gets boring its not rough at all if it dident have any brakes on the ride at all then it would prop be more rough but mean streak was not and no where near one of the roughest coaster i have rode in my life. that would have to go to The wildcat at herhsey park and the coney island cyclone.
Boring slow and rough. Ride it once to say you did.

I just got back from PKI and CP. Mean Streak is rough, but nowhere like SOB. I got bruises on my knees from SOB! Mean Streak is fun, but the trims on the drop make it really boring. I would much rather ride MF than MS. Also, If you ride Magnum, look over to your left and you will see VertiGo being built. IMO, I think Gemini is the best "wooden" (although it is a mine train) coaster at the park.

Hercules isn't that bad/painful. I rode it twice during CoasterCon this year. Like Mean Streak, the first drop has ludicrous brakes that pretty much suck all the inertia out of the ride. The trains shuffle a bit, it's not smooth by any means, but it wasn't anything too exceptionally torturous.

There's something about those Summers and Dinn coasters that just doesn't age well, that's for sure.
gatorwoodie, I don't know what you mean by, "Woodies need maintenance and upkeep, occasional re-tracking, etc. Failure to keep...", but Cedar Point is constantly re-tracking Mean Streak. They have 6 full-time carpenters that help with the maintenance and upkeep.

I just watched th original POV of Mean Streak, and I was blown away at how freaking intense it used to be. This thing was fast and furious the whole ride...especially going through it's own super structure of the 2nd and 3rd drops. I just forgot how fast it once was.

I think it would be fine if they took out the trim breaks, but they would have to compromise structural integrity by doing that. Maybe this could be a good time for CCI to step in and reprofile it...

Last year, I went in August and I remembered having a fairly good ride on it towards the middle of the train. It was a little shakey, but not rough during the second half and closer to the last fourth of the ride.

This year(May), I rode in row 2 and I was greatly disappointed, by how...boring the ride was. It just wasn't fun at all. The next day at Michigan's Adventure, I even had a lot more fun on Zach's Zoomer. It just didn't impress me at all and I doubt I'll ride again unless I hear of some changes or the line is very short. I waited about 40 minutes this year. My sister didn't like it either which proved I wasn't alone, especially since she likes everything. She even likes SLCs and the old OL:FOF. But neither one of us liked this(and both liked it was year) and neither of us liked Hercules, basically Mean Streak with pain and annoyance. It still had that shakey ending though.

Do try it though. I'd like to see what you think.

There is no airtime, it isn't that rough, and it is still a very good coaster

I consider it wood. but who cares. It gives a great ride doesn't it? This would be a good time to read Ravenguy98's sig.

Well, no, this is one of those rare cases where coaster geek speak is kind of relevant. If you had to ask if Gemini rode more like Magnum or Blue Streak, you'd have to say Magnum (and not because the trains are nearly identical). Ditto for Cedar Creek Mine Ride and the like. It's all about the track, otherwise we'd call Villain a steel coaster, and it clearly is not.

Koaster King, you had to wait 40 minutes for MS in May?...that's very odd. It must have been a really busy day in May or just peak times.

Yeah, I did.

My day was:
Disaster Transport-25 minutes
Power Tower 1 hour
Magnum-15 minutes
Gemini-walk on
Mean Streak-40 minutes
Mantis-1 hour 50 minutes
Millennium Force-2 hours 20 minutes
Wildcat-30 minutes
Blue Streak-5 minutes
Raptor-1 hour 30 minutes

It looks like it was a busy day.

...definitely! Wow, that's a late June/early July day. Tough break.

I would ride Mean Streak, just to see three trains running on a wood coaster at one time. Out of three rides, I did have one very rough ride where the train shook the whole time. Thank you Crystalkat for talking about Gemini. I thought I was the only one who had experienced discomfort on the drops. To me Mean Streak just proves that large coasters generally are inferior to smaller wooden coasters

I have had pretty good luck this year overall. I'd only a handful of rides have been very rough. I think it's fun and can be if you try it and don't let all the negative publicity get in the way. Ride it for what it is and have fun. Also I find the first row of each car is much smoother than the second row for some reason. Try it and enjoy it.

2001 MS Count 214
I loved MS a couple years ago, but this year it nearly stopped on the FIRST drop, and I probably won't ride it again until something is fixed. I hear all the cries about it tearing the tracks apart, but have any of the CP folks ridden the Raven or the Legend. I'm sure they tear the tracks apart, too, but for some reason (Jeff Hammersly), HW lets the train RUN its course.
