i want to ride mean streak but..

some people make it sound like a toture device! it will probably be just me runnig like a fool to it during the running of the bulls.
A couple years ago I rode it and thought it was great, then people told me it had already been "turned down" to prevent it from wreaking havoc with the trackwork. I rode it again this year and can honestly say I've never been more disappointed by a woodie - the only one that comes close to that level of disappointment is Raging Wolf Bobs at SFWoA. Woodies need maintenance and upkeep, occasional re-tracking, etc. Failure to keep on top of them results in: 1) major reprofiling or 2) virtual destruction of the ride. I just hope CP decides to take the first option soon, because the ride has been killed by the enormous braking on the first drop. If you want to miss the stampede for MF, my advice is to go to Maggie, STILL a great ride. I would say Mantis is also an option, but that ride has gotten nearly as "bangy" as Chang.

I rode it last August, and, believe it or not, it was VERY smooth. One of the smoothest woodies I've ever ridden, and this was in the back car! I was totally shocked of course. Despite the smoothness, it still was indeed a boring ride, not so bad at the beginning, but near the end it just seems to drag on forever. So, give it a try, and maybe you'll get lucky and have a fairly good ride like I did.:)

I pretty much agree with RR. I rode it earlier this year (twice even...damn you Greg! :)) and I didnt notice any roughness or pain (Wildcat @ HP is way rougher and Boss @ SFStL is way more painful). Mean Streak is just boring, especially if you ride near the front. Go to the back. There will at least be one spot of airtime.

Personally though, if Mean Streak were rough, I'd like it more ;)

Eh, every coaster has it's on and off days, smooth and rough. Personally, I've never found Mean Streak to be so rough that I wouldn't ride it (unless I already had a headache, in which case I wouldn't ride anything!). Actually, I find that Gemini can be just as rough in the drops, and often gives me more aches than the Mean Streak. My advice is that if you find it being a bit rough, sit a little forward (not leaning back up against the seat), brace your legs, and hold on! It's a great ride, if you don't let it get away from you!

how fast does it go at the end?
I rode Mean Streak in 6/00. It was over breaked to the point that at times I wondered if it would make it over the next hill. Later in the ride, the speed picked up a bit and it became very rough, though not unrideably painful like Hercules or some headbangers.

So, don't be afraid of it, but don't expect to want to ride it twice.
All used things will get old eventually, thats why when our cars get old we stick with them through thick and thin, until it breaks down, and then we call the towing services before we go check out a new one. There are no retirement, are nursing homes for aging Roller Coasters, so I am sure that Cedar Point is going to stick with the not so Mean Streak for a while. As long as its still there, I will still offer my patronage to a once great coaster.
I don't care what anyone says. This is still a great ride. It's a rollercoaster. They're all different. Enjoy it!

mean Streak isn't bad but it was awesome when it was new it goes around the structure 5 times its still a good ride just not a CCI.

Does CCI know how to make a bad coaster?
I agree with Coasterfreakballies and Brent, it's a roller coaster, and a decent ride, just trimmed a little too much. It won't beat you up anymore.

Its not really that bad. Its not good, but not bad in my eyes. Lucky for you, your not riding Hercules. Now thats, TORTURE to the extreme.

Rough is the last thing I would call that ride. This Spring it was smooth, smooth to the point that it didn't need to be that smooth. Smooth, slow, and boring. I have had people tell me it was incredibly unbearable the better part of its' infancy, but I can't see it, not that I don't believe the reports, they're there, I just have this picture of MS as a ride that takes place too far up, it's nothing but around and around, and if that's all that's happening, what's wrong with me ending up against a seat divider or something? Wood needs to bang me around a little. I know, it probally has its' days when it's really mean, but this one guy at CP says he doesn't ride it because the trains are wobbly and it rolls rough(?), I want to know what rolls better, that describes wood almost period, IMO! Mantis does hurt, I'm glad I'm a guy and can lean out of that kind of ride.

Hold on? I can't stand holding on to anything, it bangs me around harder(when the banging's hard), makes you take the vibrations more. Sections of rides that are rough, like the Hurricanes' helices, are smooth as can be if you just kind of sit with your hands in your lap, just look out for turns!
when i rode it it felt like a massager, it was horrible and this was last week. my mom hated this ride so much!! it was funny though, she couldnt remember what coaster it was, so i rode with her again just to laugh at her because she hates it so much.

t h e r e s a monkey in my pocket and he stealing all my change, his stare is blank and glassy i suspect that hes diranged.....
yeah but does it have speed? i downloaded a front seat ride on it and it looked VERY FAST throughout.
Why does everyone have to bash Mean Streak and Raging Wolf Bobs? There will always been rough woodies. And don't forget, no one is making you ride it. You make the choice. Geeze.

I loved the MEan Streak last year though I got hurt but I met a guy that works at the point and said in a couiple of years they are probably tearing ti down

-------------
Cedar Point, it doesn't get any better then that:)
I just came back from Cedar Point not to long ago I rode Mean Streak and sat in the fron row seat which is the best, but why are Mean Streak lines always short? I found nothing wrong with Mean Streak. I would take Mean Streak over Son Of Beast and The Beast Mean Streak is one of my favortie wooden coasters!!
