B&M, I don't know how you could ride it the first time sans hands, but you are amazing if you did. It took a lot of courage on my part, and a gut-slamming into the bar ride to keep my hands up. Granted, that was in the last car.
Yeah I don't remember what car, but I always ride hands up first time on any woodie. Since I didn't know what it was going to be like, I had no reason to be scared of massive airtime. I think we rode in the middle and the front (I only got 2 rides unfortunately).

#1 with a bullet. No doubt about it.

Damn, I've never really cared about this "Coaster" much...I always thought it was just a bunch of "it's a classic so it's gotta be good" typical crap. But I honestly haven't heard one bad review of this ride!
Maybe it's time I get myself up to Vancouver? 2003 is lookin' mighty interesting.

Legendary - Don't wait much longer than that, as it may be too late. I think next year is a good time to head that way, as well. Coaster, Tremors, Timber Terror, and the new GCI at Enchanted Village would make a killer trip.
If this ride is lost, it will be a real shame. You better get a big advance on that record, Rob!

I am simply amazed that more enthusiasts dont' know about the PNE Coaster.
Mini TR:back in August 2000, my oldest son Jason and I made the 300 mile trip to Vancouver,BC.After a steam train ride on the Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad and camping overnight at the Lynden,WA KOA, we went straight to the PNE.Once in the gates,we headed straight for Coaster. This was to be Jasons' first wooden coaster ride. You might as well make the first one a quality ride. As I had ridden Coaster many times before,I knew what to expect,so I played it off by being very relaxed on the quick trip up the lift hill.He was OK with the first drop, but the second drop is where the "Oh,S***!"s began.Jason could not believe that I was able to ride Coaster with my hands up the entire ride.We sampled other rides in the park, but returned to Coaster for more rides.I closed out the last 3 hours at the PNE riding Coaster.Jason said to me after riding Coaster 15 times that day,"Dad,this ride still does it for you? I could only say"I have ridden none better".

I can fix anything.....where is the duct tape?
Yeah, Ron! I hit it quite a few times Sunday, and it was running better than ever. So fast, whatwith the rain, and the oil can on the front car was just spraying like crazy. The track was so lubed, the trains were leaping over the hills. I am never at a loss for the drama that this ride projects. In fact, after riding all day with my kids and my great new friend, Chris, from Chicago, we tried to capture how best this beast could be described. I think it could be best explained as a rodeo. You are the cowboy, and Coaster is the bronco. Not only is the ride loaded with HUGE ejector air, but the way that it ejects you is just terrifying. You fly over the hills, and you are pitched up and forward. This gives you the sensation of "soon-to-be-exiting." It is virtually impossible (although I did it in April) to hold your hands up in the last car. The front is a totally different sensation. Very floaty, although not out of your seat floaty. More of the 'ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh' sensation. Still, a radical departure from the rear of the train. Coaster will be in operation at least one more year, but here's hoping it will remain forever. There has never been a coaster in my life that I would be more saddened by its demise. It would be a travesty. Please do what you can to get those in the know involved to save this beast. She deserves it.
Chris.... I told you so..............:) Chris Miesen, same here buddy. Amazing stuff, eh? Ron, sorry you couldn't make it. Mike, glad to ride her once with you. Flare, nice to at least shake hands....;) Oh, and don't worry....if my band finally hits it big (as projected), I will buy it up and put it on a farm. The world will be the better for it, I can tell you that. There will always be ERT in Robland.:):):):)

Hahah like I don't know that already ;). Haven't been to Lagoon, Lakeside, SFEG (meh), or some other random parks out that way either. Looks like a Northwest trip is in order!
Sightseeing suggestions anyone?

Just remember that God made everything that we build coasters out of, so yeah, I felt the finger of God in Coaster.... (isn't a tornado called the "finger of God?") Hmmm.... I still liken it more to a bucking bronco.
Not you, Moosh....;)
