I have seen God at Dorney Park.

I saw him closer to the top of the inclined spiral.

I really agree Raptor and Talon are apples and oranges though. Raptor was built with the intention of being simply the biggest, while Talon was more what could be done best with the space.

When I rode Lazer, I got closer to blacking out than I've ever done before, and I frankly was scared to ride again.

*sniff* I miss Gwazi's glory days...

If you think Raptor and Talon are "apples and oranges" then I NEVER want to read you comparing ANY two coasters ever again. If two inverts made by the same company and installed by the same company (albeit at different parks) cannot be compared than nothing can.

I think you all have taken this "fruit basket" mentality too far!

Yes, IOA is chalked full of Techno BS but you know that going in.

Yes, we did know that going in. And that is also why IOA is on our "Been there, done that list, don't plan to return unless they add something new and big," list.

On the other hand, BGT and Sea World (namely for Kraken) are on our "Must make time for these two again next time we are in FL" list.

Dorney (and Hersheypark, Knoebels, SFA and even to an extent Kennywood) is sort of unfair to put into this equation since they are local parks. Put simply... takes a heck of alot more motivation for me to get to a FL park (16 hrs by car or 4 hrs in the air not counting time at airports and a probable layover in Charlotte) than the local parks. They don't have to add anything new and I would still return to those.

Kind of hard to take a post as objective if a park or coaster name is part of the "user name"

I don't think that's a concern however, considering I never compared the 2 rides as too their manufacturers... It also apears you ignored purposefulylthe rest of my post.

Huh?

Raptor: B&M invert for CF park

Talon: B&M invert for CF park

Raptor lift height: 137'

Talon lift height: 135'

Raptor first drop: 119 feet

Talon first drop: 120 feet

Raptor elements after drop: vertical loop, inline twist, Cobra Roll, High speed spiral

Talon elements after first drop: vertical loop, inline twist, Immelman, High speed spiral

....not to say they're identical, but I'm still waiting for the orange to come rolling up.

The CPlaya 100--6 days, 9 parks, 47 coasters, 2037 miles and a winner.....LoCoSuMo.

I mean they are diffrent rides in the way they were designed. The majority of Talon is spent in helixes and transition, while Raptor seemed to be mostly inversion elements. Raptor was meant to be simply the largest, Talon was not.

Well heck all raptor had to be larger then was Batman and Top Gun.

Raptor was designed to fit in the space it had available as well. Ever wonder why it has such an out and back layout? They took the spot where Mill Run used to be and ran it over towards the end of the Pennisula 100 yds.

The Beast and Night, They go together like Peanut Butter and Jelly

I'm just gonna' put in "few" words: Pyrenees, most intense and twisted inverted layot today. It's felt like they were colaberating Batman:The Ride and Raptor all into one big coaster ad the did it perfectly. From the awsome cobra roll, to the veritcal banked helix in the sky, to the wicked transition, double vertical loops, and speed you just had to love the intensity of this monster. Pyrenees was built to be the best by combining the best, and they won the competition.

OK, 'Playa....now I am laughing....would you believe one's a Granny Smith and the other a McIntosh? Both are tart apples, but have different colors.....

The main difference for me (other than noise level - you can whisper in Talon's queue) is that Talon has the ultra-sweet "compact layout", whereas Raptor has the awesome powerful helix finish and a location at Steel Heaven...aka CP.

edit: Oh, and the funniest thing happened when I read jeremy's post re: BGT vs. DP in the theming category...I realized what a line of BS all my talk about theming is.....sure I talk the talk, and I still believe that it's very important for the FAMILIES that pay the bills for the parks, but for myself, I don't really care THAT much....BGT is definitely WAY better themed than DP, but I ride RIDES, and Dorney has a vairety of good steelies, whereas I still get the same B&M layouts again and again....

bill, ever the "anti-homer"...

With regard to my original comment, 2Hostyl, I meant to type "with regards to" - I was in a hurry when I was typing.

With the obvious indiscretion in taste you have regarding Raptor set aside for now, I couldn't agree with you more on your "apples and oranges" comment as well as your comments regarding Laser (it needs dropped into a bottomless pit) and the BGT/Dorney comparison. I just keep getting more and more surprised at what people are saying these days....
