I-305 major change?

I figured as coaster enthusiasts maybe we would collectively appreciate the world's most intense ride experience? I guess I was incorrect.

I thought the layout would be dumb at first as well but after riding the full speed / force version of this monster it's pretty hard to say that it isn't a great time. Maybe I'm in the minority.

Or maybe you're just taking it all a little too seriously/caring a little too much.

It's not that big of a deal. You really like the coaster. That's awesome. Your enthusiasm certainly shows in your posts. Who cares what everyone else thinks?

Even if every other person is clapping their hands at the end of the ride, it doesn't mean I have to feel the same way. I305 is a *good ride* to *me*, especially considering how many not-so-good rides I've ridden in the world. But it's not in my top 20 or anything like that. I will give it "third best" at Kings Dominion though. :)

Hey! That's how I feel about The Legend at HW. ;)

I like layouts that feel like you are going somewhere.

Which is precisely why the Beast is still one of the best coasters on the planet in my opinion.

Not too overstate the obvious, but I think a lot of this forum's issues with the coaster has to do with age. Can you imagine yourself being 16 and suggesting that it's too forceful? Too fast? When you're young, that's fun. Now we all age a little differently, but I know that sometime over the past 5 years I have lost the desire to spin really fast for any extended period of time, but I used to love it. Now, I love riding a spinny ride with my daugher, and MaxAir at Cedar Point, but after the 2nd re-ride, I'm done. When I was younger, I could have ridden it all day long.

Kind of like sex, huh?

Perhaps it's not an age issue, but an experience issue? ;)

Right about now is when I miss Mamoosh's posts.

Wait, are you saying that sex isn't supposed to be fun as we age? If so, I think you're doing it wrong.

Not at all.

I meant to draw a parallel between sex and coasters on how tastes change and how what you once thought was great you realize wasn't in hindsight as you age (mature?) and become more of a 'connoisseur' of something...along with a not-so subtle wink-wink thrown in with the reference to the 'fast, forceful, young and fun' thing too.

Re-read the part I quoted in the context of both sexual activity and coaster riding. It works both ways - the idea that your tastes become more 'refined' with experience.

I tried to provide perspective with a mix of humor and wisdom in one quick comment.

(Unless you're being facetious and it went right over my head. In which case, just ignore me. :) )

I love 305, but I can't ride it more than twice without needing to take a coaster break.

And I'd rather be having sex.

That's not even remotely appropriate.

Gonch: got it. But, be careful. You are treading a fine fine line.

Sort of like how the music that "the kids today" like always sucks compared to what was played back when music was great?

Be careful, or pretty soon you'll be telling neighborhood kids to "Get off me lawn!"

Hel, I tell that to the kids now and am only 38.

It's all so very true.

Today I made a reference to Billy Dee Williams in a course here at Mount Union, and no one had a clue who I was talking about. I even through out Lando, and still nothing.

Last month we were talking about group think and the Challenger tragedy in '86 and I asked them where they were when it exploded. One girl just smiled and said, " about 5 years from being conceived".

So very old. When 34 years old you are, look as good, you will not, hmm?

You are too old. Yes, too old to give the training. ;)

Yeah, except I'm telling the kids that they don't know how to do it. That's kinda cool for an old guy, right?

And I just turned 38 earlier this week. Is that really that old?

How come when you're 18, 38 seems like forever away but at 38, 18 feels like yesterday?

Sigh.

Problem is that many coaster enthusiast have only experienced one of those two.

BTW, I have been married for 20 year and have 2 kids. So yea, I'm not getting any anymore either.

Before you can be older and wiser you first have to be young and stupid.

T.M.I. lol

And Dave, I get both just fine. I am a superstud! :)

The main wheel melting was apparently occurring in the first very long g-force heavy turn... which has now been raised. The first third of that turn is still there, as is the pullout of that INTENSE first hill*. We'll see what happens when the sun heats up everything and those trains start traveling a little faster... the sprayers are still in place in the station but not the brake run.

I can't even imagine an extra 2-3 mph on i305 right now but the warmer temperatures will surely bring it.

(*Without the trims I think i305's first hill in the back row might be the most intense Intamin drop in existence. The front row gets enough airtime to toss you completely out of the seat, the back row is insane. With the trims it was more of a gradual slow fall, very awkward.)
