Has anyone ridden Hypersonic & Dodonpa. I loved Dodonpa - is it a better/worse ride?
I've ridden both.
Dodonpa was better, mainly due to the faster launch. However, it was marred by that awful recording in the queue that thrillerman1 mentioned. Not quite as bad as Ay-Jan-Eye-Ka! mind...
I develop Superior Solitaire when not riding coasters.

A ride should not bruise your thighs.
Except for extreme airtime :)
(Although I suppose with good restraints extreme airtime wouldn't bruise your thighs)
The launch is flippin' amazingly powerful. However, the ride's poor design just made it a very jerky piece of garbage. If you took the same launch system and applied it to, say, a Premier or Intamin ride, it would be much better. Whoever thought that air inflated tires would make good coaster wheels? Too much flexing, IMO.
coastin' since 1985
My only qualm with them is the five point restraint slamming your crotch when you brake but I would assume that is par for the course with a drag racer.
I won't miss Hypercrappic, Dragster while not as extreme is a way better ride and in it's own way just as extreme since the launch lasts so long.

I would love eto see an Xcelerator clone go there because it would fit in nicely with the 50's theme of the nearby cafe(sure they're removing the happy days theme but still) & it would make for a more reliable & reridable coaster experience than HSXLC ever was but alas if the rumors are true then Headspin may be taking it's place in 2009.
Hypersonic, not the flippin' boomerang. I've never ridden it but I'm positive it would draw at Carowinds; there are no real launch coasters anywhere near there.

Still has one of the longest lines in the park.
That's a capacity issue, not an indicator of popularity.
Seriously folks KD has simply removed the ride from their website,it may be an error & they plan on having it open for the 2008 season or it may be removed before the start of the season who knows? As of right now it's still standing & I can care less if it goes cuz I sure as heck won't miss it when it does.
The ride was a capacity & maintenance nightmare from the start that the park would certainly be better off without.
I disagree, everytime I take anyone to Kings Dominion the person wants to ride that ride First. It's still a big draw for non-coaster nerds. I do agree capacity is always a issue with that coaster. Whatever happen to the fast pass they tried? HAve they ever ran all 3 cars before?
Batwing seems they forgot to put the new coaster on the web site for SFA... oh wait they got a Water slide. wink
