Well, currently, there are no in-game screenshots, no reported progress (other than the 3D Studio Max renderings), unrealistic PC requirements, unrealistic game features (basically a RollerCoaster Tycoon/No Limits hybrid), and a proposed release date sometime in October. That's three months away, folks. Chris Sawyer has stated several weeks ago that RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 is about 98% complete, and its release date is also in October. I suspect CoasterGen is nowhere near halfway complete.
Also, the major coaster manufacturers are listed on their site. If the game is to be lisenced, they will need permission to use those names. Considering the fact that no coaster sim/game to date mentions any manufacturers, I seriously doubt permission will be granted.
While the renderings are quite good, I think the CoasterGen 'staff' members are in over their heads. It's nice for kids to have goals, but it's better for those goals to be remotely within reason. CoasterGen is not going to happen, and you can quote me on that.
EDIT: Jeff summed up everything I just said in one sentence. :)

Urgh...Scream Machine - horrible graphics, horrible editor (NL was easier to use to me), horrible sounds, overall horrible game/sim.
As for the original question, I would take HyperRails. Coastergen looks like it will never be finished, plus the "developers" are rude and can't handle any criticism.

Jeff, i'll keep this breif, because i dont want to be banned or anything, but take a look at this.... http://americacoasters.com/Matrix/Matrix.htm
Tell me i dont know what i'm talking about. By the looks of those Editor shots.. i dont see any Bezier ( hey, ok, i cant spell ) handles or anyhting. Trust me jeff, i know how to use them. I use them in 3DMAX all the time. I use the same method as Badnitrus.
I don't even know what you're talking about. What's an editor shot? That link doesn't show me anything relevant to the conversation.
My point to you was that you've haven't seen Hyper Rails, so saying what it is or isn't is like describing the surface of Uranus as if you've been there.

From the screenshots of Hyperrails' editor, it looks much like the same editing style of the Scream Machines demo. I could swear that's a box with different arrows in it, which you can twist and move to your heart's content.
It is most certainly NOT just a rehash of 3D Roller Coaster Designer because the screen shots on HR's website show REAL coasters. There's no way you can make Riddler's Revenge with the limited options of 3D-RCD.
Coastergen just confuses the heck out of me. I am one of the fortunate ones, who's computer crashed a month ago and was *forced* to purchase a new, higher end machine. I could play that thing, based on the requirements.
I've not seen any more than anyone else here. No actual game shots. No editor shots. Just the 3DSM stuff. I was convinced there was no game. But...
They asked for beta testers! I want one of those who is actually testing it to tell me if this game exists.
They also have the release date set for October... Nuh uh. Unless they got something that I'm not seeing...
What I really want, more than anything, is another patch for No Limits. Maybe, optimize it better than before, and give us some new stuff to play with. The way I see it, NL was the first out (ok, many see it that way because it is a FACT) and people are just going to wait for more from that franchise before they get Hyperrails, which is essentially the same game, with a little more here, and a little less there.
If Ole can release another patch for the game that makes it run a bit better, adds new coaster types, and a few more tricks, it'll blow everything out. NL has the most superior editor in my eyes, certainly has the largest userbase (as it is really the only coaster sim out), and the stuff people have been doing with their imported objects is just phenominal. Terrains, stations, entire queues. Amazing stuff.
Edit to say: Hyperrails box says 'Full Control.' So, there... Still think No Limits is best, though .
Edit again to say: Ask and ye shall receive... No Limits update coming soon. Ooh! B&M Hyper! :)

I have a better question: Will Scream Machines ever be anything more than a demo? It's been in development for two years now, and it still has nothing but floorless trains in it. That doesn't sound like very much progress to me, even if the graphics and editor have been improved. Talk about vaporware! I expect CoasterGen to be finished way before Scream Machines, and DragonsIOA will still be working on Scream Machines for another two years from now.
I don't believe there is a single true statement in there about Scream Machines but anyway... Since the last demo the fact that the game has been completely re-done should raise some attention to it. The game has extreme detail and could be coming out later this summer. Before you post inaccurate info you should do some research first. And as far as coastergen goes I don't expect to see it released and if it were released I doubt it would be anything much. As far as first impressions go CoasterGen isn't sounding too good.

As the Hyper Rails site has already shown, you can put as many rides in the game as you'd like.

Since Coastergen will never be released, Hyper Rails.
As for Scream Machines, I've been skeptical too but the chat last Saturday made me optimistic for the game to be released.
