I just returned from PKI and CP. Hands down, Millennium Force is the best. I rode both Magnum XL-200 and Son of Beast front row, and to be honest, I was really disappointed. I think the only good thing about Magnum was its abundance of airtime, and its tunnels. SOB, however, was rough, I had bruises on my knees from the handlebar, and the best part was the loop. So, should I reconsider Hypers after a Intamin or B&M one, or forget them all together? But all in all, Both parks had fantastic roller coasters...

Millennium Force: The Future's Riding On It
Hypers definatley are worth it, look at the amount of people that like Magnum, or Goliath, or even Mamba, not to mention the Intamin and B&M hypers.

Nitro and Apollo are awesome but SROS and Steel Force suck.
The only hyper I've ever been disappointed with was Magnum 200-XL. Don't get me wrong...it's not that I didn't like it, it was great...it just didn't live up to the hype, and was pretty rough for a steel non-looper.
As for SoB - try it again in the back car. Also, try a seat that is not above the wheels - that will will be smoother on any coaster. I intentionally did that on Wild Thing yesterday and was very surprised in the difference it makes. I'll have to try that on Magnum when I get back to CP and see if I like it better then.
Hypers and LIMs are about the only steel coasters I really get excited about these days.

Current favorite coasters:
Wooden: 1) Beast 2) Raven 3) Son of Beast 4) The Boss 5) The Legend
Steel: 1) Raging Bull 2) Millennium Force 3) V2 4) Wild Thing 5) Mr. Freeze

*sighs* What we really need is more Gigas...Look at Millennium Force; Fast, Smooth, Airtime abundant, and a big thrill...Look at Magnum; semi-fast, rough, airtime abundant...Maybe Intamin should make trains for Magnum...

Sorry, but while Nitro definately doesn't suck, S:ROS @ SFDL takes first prize imo.

I definetly agree with you.

"Welcome back Raptor riders. How was your flight?"
MillenniumForce04: MF isn't airtime abundant, it spends alot of time travelling at high speeds near ground leval. I can see it having airtime on the first drop, and the hills, but other than that, its speed, and overbanked turns, but i have no problem with speed and overbanked turns:)

Millennium Force has barley any air time it still a sweet ride but it does lack the air time.
I think every coaster has its merits and its disappointments, depending on what you prefer and what you're looking for in a good ride. I don't think it's necessary to decide whether a coaster is good or not based on is it a hyper coaster or a giga coaster, just is it a good ride?

Sigh. Well, if anyone REALLY thinks that "hypers" (an arbitrary term) aren't worth it anymore with the advent of "gigas" (equally arbitrary), then great, less people who may be in front of me in line :)

To me, I want to ride S:ROS at SFNE way more than Millenium Force, simply because S:ROS looks to have a lot more airtime. MF looks great, but I want lots of airtime. I think hypers are great coasters no matter what, the combination of speed, height and airtime is what makes them great. A coaster doesn't have to be the tallest to be the best, and that's proven by coasters like S:ROS, Nitro, Apollo's Chariot, Raging Bull, Steel Force, and even Magnum. I think hypers are awesome, and I forsee lots more being built in the near future. They are very popular and are great investments for parks, look at what Goliath did for SFMM. Just my opinion. :)

Ok, enough put-downs for Steel Force, and putting down coasters IMHO is not the way to tell people you didn't like the ride.

Steel Force+ me= floating airtime!
Millenium Force has a TON of airtime!!! What have you been smoking lately?! I was just on it last Wednesday and Thursday and I was thrown out of my seat on the hills! There is great floating air on the 180 foot hill, EJECTOR air on the 120 foot hill, and more ejector air on the camelback. I even got airtime in the front seat going down the first drop!
The best thing about that ride...I had my restraint loose, and the ride ops don't pressthem down. They make sure they are at a safe height and pull on them. I love CP's ride ops.

KoЯn Rules! I just came out to feed!
Well the only two Hypers i have been on have not been mentioned that much and one not at all. But just a shot out to Giovanola. Titan blew Mamba out of the Water IMO and I still think Mamba is a great ride. It was just nothing compared to Titan. I guess the South and West will have all of the Giavanolas,And The North and East will get all of the B&M / Intamins.
Just wondering if anybody can compare Giovanola to B&M and Intamin as far as quality on their hyper/giga coasters.

I also have to agree with you too. I almost stood up on the 180 and 120 fott hill. My #1 coaster.

Funny, MF gave me absolutely no air time. Why, I've had better air time sitting here typing than on MF's no-airtime course.
Well, I guess there are two categories: Those who absolutley love Millennium Force, and those who think it was ok

I have a question here...
I have seen people mention that some parks have a height restriction with how high the state or county will let them go??? Where does one find this info if it is in fact the case??
