Hurricane Ian

Reports of Orange Blossom trail in Kissimmee, I4 at Kirkland, turnpike south of MCo are flooded. I wonder what Universal looks like, Disney based on first reports is ok, but some panels fell off the contemporary.

So Florida peeps, how are you holding up? I hope all is ok with you.

so silly question, do Disney and Universal close or just do limited hours? I would think employees would have issues getting to work?

Parks are closed today, tomorrow currently they are planning to open but we shall see.

Major damage to River Adventure, a TRex size hole in the side wall by the drop shaft.

Didn't sleep much. I only have Irma to compare to, but the constant pounding on the house was exhausting, even after taking a lorazepam. It just didn't let up.

Still have power and Internet here, and Duke Energy (serving around but not in Orlando) shows about 230K dark in the area. There are 26 units down a few blocks from me, which sounds like maybe a specific apartment building. Measured wind speed nearest to me is still in the 20's with gusts over 50, though it's supposed to let up soon. It's hard to believe it was like this for so long considering how disorganized the storm was. We got the outer bands as a category 3, but it got worse as the storm got closer and disorganized, because it started so strong.

This made Irma look easy. I'm gonna go out in the neighborhood this afternoon (I'm on my HOA board) and see how things are.

Glad to hear you’re safe and unscathed Jeff.

SE Florida was spared on this one but we did have some interesting moments Tuesday night with tornado warnings. My mother and sister were very close to a couple of them but did not sustain any damage.

The impacts to the west coast are almost incomprehensible and I'm now seeing the issues with flooding in Central Florida. Looks like Jeff got lucky.

I have lakes on two sides and a swampy pond across the street, all of which are about 8 feet below my house. I'm not in a flood zone, fortunately. I did a quick walk around the neighborhood, and we only had one tree down, plus lots of debris. About two feet of water in the "dry" retention basin. I didn't see a single missing roof shingle or tile, which blows my mind. Even if the winds were lower, I expected the sheer duration to pull something off.

Also, the Jurassic Park River Adventure has a huge hole in it.

If any of you see a T Rex roaming around call Jurassic Park Containment right away.

If I was scheduled to give any of you a ride anywhere today, I'm afraid I must cancel.

Anyone up for a lap on Popeye & Bluto's Incredible Hulk?

That's conservatively an extra foot of water in the lagoon.

Here are a couple more from the Universal resort.

I feel pretty lucky to live where I do, because I chose it for housing prices (at the time), and not for any weather related advantage. If I were to move, that consideration would now be at the top of my list. Hang in there, friends.

I definitely am learning what parts of Orange and Osceola County I would never want to move to for the flood risk. The power outage and smashed windshield are annoying, but my boss sent us a message in our work group text and she was kayaking down her street.

As it slowly starts to leave us, I do have to say I am loving the fall-like temps that we are currently having!

Sucks.

Yeah, the temperature is nice! We had our slider fully opened as we repopulated the patio. And we have almost a full week of lows under 70! Though to be fair, it was that time anyway.

In a forum with a fairly narrow audience, it is pretty remarkable that 2 members have now been the victim of damage to vehicle by tree in a hurricane (or at least I think Gonch's was in a hurricane).

Glad to hear that you Floridians are mostly unscathed.

Well, now that we can't get any more Dragster rollbacks, we have to compete in SOMETHING improbable... B-)

I heard that Jeff was evacuated from Superman once…
