How Was Your Ride? The Boss...

I think its a fantastic ride, but I've never had a problem with the G-trains so take that as you will. The first drop is the most insane thing I have ever experienced on a coaster. Its insanely wild and violent, which I dig more than anything, but I suppose its just too much for some people. Just the inner masochist in me shining through, I suppose. ;)

I loved the Boss. The two days that I rode it, it was a bit rough and I did get bruises on my shins from leaning into the turns too hard on the laterals but oh my god was their airtime to be found. I found that both 1.3 and the back seats provided great airtime. The back actually was more pops of ejector airtime and 1.3 was more sustained floater through most of the ride. I also love the long winding layout of this beautiful coaster. I do not get where people say that this coaster, or it's partner in crime, Screamin Eagle are rough. Go ride the American Eagle at Great America sometime or any old Arrow looper and those are much more rough than Boss.

Wanna Ride A Woodie?

When I rode it in June it was unforgiveably rough and didn't offer much in excahnge for the roughness. Probably the worst CCI that I have ridden. Even Sreamin Eagle was better. While SE was equally rough, it at least offered some airtime. Boss just trundled around and pounded your body while doing nothing to excite.

I absolutely hate G-trains so they ruined the ride for me. They're so painful that I have to hold on and brace myself instead of riding with my hands in the air and enjoying the ride. The only coaster that I semi-liked with G-trains was Legend, although it's now 100x better with the PTC's.

I rode the Boss over Memorial Day weekend this year, and absolutely loved it.

It's *very* agressive, almost to the point of being violent, but I thought it was a ton of fun. The double down first drop at night is killer.

It's a great ride. Aggressive, out-of-control, great airtime. The double-down takes you by surprise every time, well atleast it did for me. I ranked it #2 in Mitch's poll only behind the incomparable, Shivering Timbers.

I think it is one of the most under rated coasters in existance. It's aggresive as hell, but not rough. It's one of the few coasters that has that "airborne" feel - like Raven right after the mist.

It rides the way good wood is supposed to ride; it lets you know you've ridden it. Save the smooth for the steel.

It's rough, It's tough and it don't take crap from anyone! THE BOSS!

I got to ride the boss for a change :)

The Boss wants to see you now.

Is it about coasters or friends? I say both!

Not only did I find the Boss rough, it just didn't do anything for me. There was no airtime, and laterals such in Gerstlauers. Except for the Lost Coaster, I think it's the worst CCI coaster I've ridden.

I thought that it was a very exciting coaster. I rode it two years ago and it wasn't too rough. I enjoyed it a lot and think that you should ride it.
I rode it this summer, thought it was good but riugh. Screaming Eagle on the otherhand was to painful to enjoy. The American Eagle is smooth as glass by comparison to SE.

To everyone who wants PTC's on Boss (including myself), you may get a kick out of this. I heard from a good friend from the area that for the Boss media day, they actually used Eagles trains because the G-trains hadn't arrived (or something like that.. forgot). I can only imagine how awesome that wouldve been!

It is plain and simple. The Boss is a very fast paced, rough, and irregularlly laid out coaster. Its everything a person could want in a wooden terrian coaster.

Why cant we have a simple marrage of PTC and G-trains. the first car should be a G-train, just for the fact it has that open ended front. Which allows for some great rides. And then all the other cars should be PTC's for comfert and tracking.

And whats wrong with you people and hateing "rough" woodies. There suppose too be "rough". IF you want smooth go ride a steal. So long as its not a vekoma or Arrow

I will be very upset if my parking space is replaced with intiamin track. Or ANY track for that matter.

Its true about the Boss' media day running one of the Eagle trains. I was at that event.. man, that thing tracked like a dream then they had to put those nightmare G trains on... UGH!

True, wooden coasters are not supposed to be smooth, but they are supposed to be enjoyable, which at this point the Boss is NOT. The Same goes for Villian. I rode that thing in September and I thought I lost some brain cells after that twirl...I wish CCI would have realized that those G trains track terribly on twisters. There is only one true stock that was made for twisting track and there is no way GCI would allow them to ride on non GCI track.

From glancing at the back cover of this month's Amusement today ALL top 10 wooden coasters have PTC rolling stock...enough said!

I've never gotten any pain from the G-trains on either the Boss or Legend. I have pretty long legs and my knees extend well beyond the bar, though. My girlfriend smacked her knees and sported a bruise for two weeks.

I will hate SE for being rough. I've been riding that every year since it opened and it needs serious help.

Generic, isn't it?

For me, it's not that the Gerstlaurs HURT it's more that they just feel wrong while negotiating the ride.

WOOD: It does a body good.

My rides on the Boss were great, I rode it not really knowing much about it (I didn't know about the double dip) and I was shocked when you were thrown out of the train on that, I don't remember it all that well, besides that the first drop was great, I remember the turn after the 2nd big hill pulling great laterals, at the time they were the most intense I had been on but since The Legend I doubt that will be true now. It still is in my top ten just above the Legend, which as and always will be an argument between which is better. WE NEED TO GET A PETITON STARTED TO GET RID OF THE G TRAINS ON SOME COASTERS. this being one, after all the kick A$$ PTC in Indiana I don't think I'll ever go back, the G trains look better in my opinion but arne't as fun to ride. Screamin' Eagle is the real reason to go to SFSL, I went on it in 90+ temp after it just rained and the airtime and setting and speed were absolutely amazing in any seat.

After riding Speed: The Ride and then riding Freeze with the OTSR I automatically decided that Speed was just a fluke by Premier because it is the only one by them that (gasps) doesn't Need the lapbar replacements

Yeah...but freeze w/o the OSTR's is simply amazing.

PTC undercarriage, G-train body, PTC lapbars, G-train lapbar springs....:)

One more thing.....for better tracking, less wear-and-tear, and a faster ride...Millennium Flyer style trailering....love those GCI guys!

Agreed on Speed, it's my fav Premier launch and it's the only one left with OTSRs ;) Weird, huh?
