How to spot a coaster enthusiast:

^LOL! I would agree with that, Bear. :)

Gator, how did you know I had YOU in mind when I posted that? ;) You WILL make it to Stricker's next year, and you WILL make it to Camden Park even if I have to hunt you down. ;)

You may be a coaster enthusiast if you name your pets after coasters.

<---who is GUILTY of that. Timbers and Kumba seem to dig their names anyway. ;)

My next dogs will be named Thunderhead and Voyage! :)
You name your kid so that his initials represent a ride or park (ex. TTD).

You then say those initials instead of his name when you're talking about him.

When you kid goes to school, he asks that everyone calls him by his initials because, "That's what my parents call me."

When visiting or waiting in line for that particular ride, you tell you're child why they were named the way they were.

I had a dog I probably should have called Roller Soaker. :)
How about seeing some guy drive his wife to the train every morning with plates on his car that read "upstop". That same guy sometimes wears a ratty old Raging Bull shirt...wait...that's me!

Aww, that's sweet, I didn't know you had a dog with paralyzed back legs and an incontinence problem... ;)

And someone said it.. I agree- if you are posting, you ARE an enthusiast. Denial will get you nowhere =).

Yes I am an Acer, female, 22 years old, 130lbs. and yes i cheerlead.. I don't take any offense to the stereotyping I actually think it's hillarious, and I am guilty of some of those things..except the buffet parts and arguing with ride ops and flashing my card lol. But I'll be real suprised if some of you (that are saying you're not enthusiasts) aren't saying "yea i do that too" to some of the things said

I don't flash my ace card..actually i have no idea where it is.. i stroll through parks.. but I did travel from the east coast to the west coast for the opening of Tatsu.... but i was more excited about ridin X again...

long story short.. if you reading this yes you ARE an enthusiast =) whether you want to use a different word or not.. it all means the same

But let me just make fun of myself too...

19. You have a picture of a coaster with you to get your mind off of other things.

Not what it sounds... I in a camera department a circuit city and i printed out a pic of KK.. cuz I'm working an 13 hour day so i needed something to cheer me up.

^LOL! When I worked for a print shop I used to make all kinds of coaster calendars for friends and print off high-quality pics from my own Pbase site, just for fun (and because I could!) I also enlarged photos, laminated them, and put them all over my wall and displayed them all over my workspace as "samples."

Yeah, and I carry a photo of Dragster around, next to my cats. ;-)

The only time I flashed my ACE card was to get the discounts at Holiday World and the Paramount Parks. ;)

20. You mention that you took the bus to work, and rode in seat 1-3 (best airtime over the potholes).
Because Im punchy this evening

21. You acutally understand the last post (ie the 1-3 seat designation)

22. You either:
a. have season passes to multiple parks
b. have used a season pass at a sister park or
c. own a season pass to a park 2+ hours away from you

23. You call the summer "coaster season"

24. At your home park you have a favorite seat on every coasters

25. If as an adult you have ever asked to stay on a ride when there was no line

26. When the forcast says rain, you get excited because you know no one will be at the park and rain makes coasters more "exilerating."

27. You know Magnum is not sinking into Lake Erie

28. When people say ace your first thought is ACE, not a card, grade or an expert fighter pilot.

29. You own a park t-shirt that is neither from your home park nor a park in Florida

30. You are over 10 and start jumping up and down at a chance to go to Holiday World

31. You arent from Pitt and know that Kennywood has no connection to Kenny Rodgers

Now some enterprising soul (or someone with lots of free time on his/her hands) should take all these items, put them in a list/survey form and have people check off the ones that apply to them.

Then they can be rated (as all real enthusiasts do with everything). If you said to yes 15-19 of the comments...

Oh yeah, 32. You take a number of items from a thread called "How to spot a coaster enthusiast," put them in list form and invite people to take a survey to see how many apply to them.

33. You take the survey created by the person in #32, and anxiously await to find out your score.

^34. You Suggest #32 but are too lazy to do it yourself ;)

35. You refer to the seasons as Closed - SDC WorldFest - Regular Operating Hours - Halloweekends - Old Time Christmas.

:) Missouri - we coast all year except January and February!

36. When co-workers go on vacation to a theme park, they ask you the best way to conquer the park and things to avoid and not avoid.

37. Your co-workers ask you what roller coaster park you are heading to as they all know that is the only thing you spend your vacations doing.

I also thought about RGB's suggestion but don't have enough time on my hands to do that although it would be cool to do.

Do I see a book deal in the works?

"You might be a coaster nerd if........"

^How many "home parks" do you have anyway? ;)

Swoosh (who has 5 home parks)

^5 huh, I still only call one a home park, allthough it doesnt have to be the closest one to me. I think it should be the one within a days drive that you attend a lot and like the most

For instance when I was attending ND, CP was my home park.

Last year in DC it was TPFKABGW

Now in Toledo its CP again

Well I consider a park a homepark when you visit multiple times in one season. WOF SFSTL SDC CC and Adventureland are all about the same distance (give or take an hour) from my home so...

If I had to choose one it would be either WOF or SDC though as I'm pretty sure I have been to those two the most this season of the 5.
