How to spot a coaster enthusiast:

I'm in line for The Beast last night waiting for one of the last rides, and a guy comes in the train in front of me, sitting in back, all alone, and FLIES out of his seat and BOOKS it down the ramp to get another ride in.

Total coaster-nut. Perhaps it was one of you?

If it was me, I would have flown out of my seat and run screaming from the park in pain.
If someone runs off the Beast looking for more, I'm pretty sure they are NOT a coaster enthusiast!

Then what's that make someone who doesn't leave their seat for a re-ride...three times in a row?

I'm so NOT an enthusiast. ;)

I'm surprised someone could run after getting off of The Beast.

A true enthusiast would be one who would be complaining how it was overly braked, how certain parts of the track were a bit rough, how The Voyage was so much better, and just generally how much how this coaster (wich was once great) now sux and how it was terrible and how it was a no good piece of rotting lumber that should be torn down and or burned... as they are running down the ramp, leaping over small children and old ladies, in an attempt to get just one more ride in before close.

Wait... would the true enthusiast run down the ramp? Or would they hang out in the station, begging the ops to let them reride one more time with out going around again?

(edit: not copying from Gonch... just typing that "reride" theory at the same time)

Most Enthusiasts know to take their time during public hours going from ride to ride...

BUT WATCH OUT WHEN IT'S E.R.T.!

Oh...Wait...the good Lord G reminded me that I don't have to get out of my seat to re-ride for that.

I am SO an Enthusiest! :P Don't be an ACE hater.

Thanks for another great season, VF!

Definitely not. Real enthusiasts worship Nitro.

Heh. I'm not worthy!

Was he displaying any kind of membership card?
Or wearing a really rare coaster shirt? I think coaster enthusiasts are "ranked" by how rare their shirts are ;)

I wouldn't "run" for a re-ride, but I certainly would walk back through the line if I had enough time to ride the Beast again. I think that the Beast is still a great ride.

I have a question:
I know that the Beast used to have skid brakes which were replaced later by, I think, some kind of magnetic brakes. Were the skid brakes always there? If not, when were they added?

Edited for clarity. *** Edited 8/10/2006 7:37:10 PM UTC by Coasterbuzzer***

Or their beanie hats with spinning propellers. You definitely get extra points for those.

Certainly someone else must know what I'm talking about. :)

Beanies are good, as are jackets with a lot of patches on them ;)

Don't forget satiny baseball jackets.

Mmmmmm Satiny.

A true enthusiast would have corrected you when you said Magnum was 200 feet tall.

I thought gravy stains were the real giveaway.

I think its really funny when geeks make fun of other geeks.

Lets face it, everyone who comes on this site is a geek to somewhat of a degree, so is it funny how a geek laughs at a geek making fun of other geeks that which he is a part of?;) lol. *** Edited 8/10/2006 8:00:31 PM UTC by P18***
