How to... Lesson 1: "Emoticons, bold & italics"

How do you bold type and slant type things? Also whatever else we can do here in the typing department.

I have the smiley and frowns down. :) :( ;)

A colon followed by either open (frown) or close (smile) parenthases. Do not add a hyphen between them, as it will not work. Change the colon to semi-colon to make a wink.

":" + ")" = :)
":" + "(" = :(
";" + ")" = ;)
":" + "-" + ")" = :-)

Get it?
