How should Six Flags Darien Lake Improve?

BTW did anyone know that when Viper opened it ran 3 trains?!

No problem, I was just being a pain in the ass ;)

Viper ran 3 trains up through the 1999 season. The first season with Superman it did run 3 trains but after that it has only ran two. But luckily it runs 2 ALL THE TIME regardless of the line and they let you reride.

I had a season pass for a few years PRIOR to 1999, and it never ran 3 trains. It always ran 2 trains.

MAYBE during the very 1st year, it had 3 trains, but all the times I've been to the park since I can remember in the mid 1980's... it ALWAYS ran only two trains at MOST with the 3rd train used as a spare either to the side in the transfer track, or below the station you could see it there... but I never ever ever saw it run 3 trains and I was at the park I'd have to say maybe a dozen times in '96, 97, & '98 total during the busiest of days.

The park basically can't handle a 3rd train. It'd be too much stacking with the current load/unload procedure. Even now with improved loading procedures... by the time the train leaves, the 2nd train is sometimes already back... if not it's at least going thru the corkscrew, so it's not feesible since there'd be too much stacking.

And, I hope that the Predator will have a really big accident, and after it reopens, people won't go on it, and the park will get rid of this piece of **** and add a smooth B&M Coaster.

Have a really big accident! I don't care if you are joking or not when you said that. That is not a cool thing to say at all! People get hurt and killed when accidents happen!

Steelers + Penguins
2009 What a great year!

Dude, grow up. Get over it. Move on.

Crap like that isn't necessary. Time to voluntarily step away from Coasterbuzz for a little while and get some air.

I really like SFDL and I think it's worth the four hour drive from Cleveland. Where else can you ride a Mack Sea Storm and Huss UFO in these parts (other than PCW)? ;) Fix up the flats they have and also add some new flats. I can see a Chance Revolution over a Huss Frisbee and yes, they need a drop tower.

Predator is not a piece of junk and has a great layout. It just needs new trains. I was there a few weeks ago and those PTC trailer trains just bounce on the track.

The biggest change would have to be demolishing Mind Eraser and replace with a mid-sized Beemer invert like Talon.

They definitely need to replace the black top and use feet friendly pavement. They should also add more trees.

They should've just leveled the current water park and built a new, larger one elsewhere on the property. They have a lot of land at their expense so why not use it?

SFDL has a lot of potential being so close to a major worldwide tourist attraction and if I had the money I wouldn't mind owning it.

Um, well, PCW got rid of their Sea Storm to put in Tomb Raider, so looks like SFDL is it.

For SFDL itself, it's been a while since I've been there, but what I remember is, along with a nice major flat ride, is needing some good theming to it. Bits of it really felt like just some small rides were crammed into a space just because they could fit. Nothing seemed to really go together all that much, so it had a more carnival feel to it.

allright well at least dawgbyte brought up the 3 train situation... i had a post ranting about it but decided it would probably be best not to post it, he put it much more nicely. =P
Somewhere in one of my boxes of "stuff" still in my parents attic, I have the Ride Op Manual for Viper circa 1995 and it says: "The Viper originally ran with three trains but this proved too much of strain on employees so it was cut to two."

I mean hey, CP's Corkscrew is shorter and don't they run 3 trains? Whatever...

When I worked there in 1995 nearly all of the rides had western sounding names and I always thought that with its location out in the country it would not have been that hard to theme the whole park to a country-western theme. This may not be as apparent now as some of the names have been changed. Also some small touches have been removed over the years. The Hay Maker (paratrooper that lowers to the ground) used to feature hay on the tops of the cars and the former Crazy Quilts used to have rugs (I guess quilts actually) on their tops.

In response to the "why don't they take out the photo booth at Mind Eraser?" How about this: "Why don't they get ride of the Concession Stand in the Viper Q Line? I seriously doubt the line ever gets that long any more!

On that subject, why don't they route the Q for Viper over towards Ranger if not only to make re-rides easier but also look at all the space it would open up!

I could never love an Arrow!

"Guest "Services" was of no help at all and we asked for an adress for their Corporate Office and they said they didn't have it."
No suprise to ME...;)

Mack Sea Storms are also Marineland and PCW...UFO was fine for a try, but not something I'd want to ride again, LOL...

Predator DOES need some work, but it's really trains more than trackwork, IMO...

> They got rid of the photo-booth for Mind Eraser because they only really need two. If they kept that one, there'd be one for nearly every coaster except Boomerang.

> I don't know why Predator's photo-booth was removed... maybe they didn't want to update the technology for the photos (they had the old crappy b/w photos) because of how rough the coaster is & how everyone's faces turned out so rachet.

> Viper's little Viper Venom juice stand is not taken out because it basically HAS to be there. Right there is where the corkscrew crosses the queue, so it's either keeping it there, or putting a net underneath aka: Mind Eraser. Which is more feesible? Leaving it alone, or spending money for something that's not needed?

> Re-routing the Viper Queue has been my wish for Darien Lake for years. They have an employee/maintaince entrance right behind Ranger that follows the queue behind the mini-golf all the way to the far end.

> There's still LOTS of land at Darien Lake where-as a ride-removal is not needed. They may need to take care of a few of their flats & coasters... but they don't need to be replaced... the area needs to be worked out.

Couldn't agree more! I wonder what portion of SeaBreeze visitors are people who've become entirely disenchanted with SFDL...even *if* Supes had been running, I'd have been there "for the coaster".

Good point. Seabreeze totally blew me away. It's always nice to walk around and have EVERY employee smile and say hi to you. :-)

Maybe they could move Supes to Seabreeze? ;-) That would make it perfect.

actually predator did get digital photos the last year it was there, it may have only been for a month or two, but I remember when they got the new monitors and color photos for a short amount of time. Nobody bought them, probably :P.

It does, regardless of the wait, but it's sort of a joke lol.
