I feel that the park has kinda given up on this ride. The park spends way too much $$ to keep it ruuning.
Those two comments contradict each other just a little, don't they?
I agree that whole area of the park needs a little action. There was almost NOBODY there, which is sad because there are some awesome attractions back there (the museum and the mine ride to name a few).
I guess we will see what happens. ;-)

It amazes me that they run 3 trains on that thing nearly every day of the season even though it's a walk on.
Less people on rides = More people in the midways spending money
The only reason for the trim brakes is for maintenance purposes. It was designed so poorly that if they were to let it run as it was meant to without trims then it shakes itself apart and the carpenters have a hell of a time fixing it in the few hours before the park opens. There is hope for Mean Streak, but I think that it would involve an entire course retrofit (or at least from the lift on) of Intamin's prefabricated track. It would be steelie smooth and it would be as intense as it was back in the day. And, yes, fun once again. I just hope that an increase in ridership would be justification enough for Cedar Point to install the new track.

"Cedar Fair CEO and president Dick Kinzel said originally the park was considering a new water ride for the 2005 season, and that would have been in Frontierland. Kinzel said the park typically likes to keep water rides in one section so guests aren't walking around the park wet" (from http://www.pointbuzz.com/news.htm?id=590).
From the above quote, it seems that CP does know that the back end of the park is lacking. But do I think the MS will leave -- nope. It is pretty to look at from the Lighthouse Point cottages.
Sad that a coaster is just pleasing to eye, and not to the ride.
I see new rides going back there though before MS will ever be torn down.
Taer it down!
TAER IT DOWN!
(lol)
I like MS. It's just so hard to get to, I see it as easy to miss or accidentally skip. When CP builds something new back there, I am sure MS will get more ridership. Look at DT.
Modifications to MS would be very welcome, but the GP probably wouldn't take notice, which means that CP probably wouldn't see it as necessary.
imho, of course.
My 11 year old friend LOVES MS; one of his favorites.
The young ones always like the rougher rides, I think they have more room to move around in the PTC trains than adults do. I think thats part of the problem. We are jammed in there, divider in the middle, high sides with no where to put your outside arm confortably.
I say we just douse the whole thing in Guiness. Pints of Guiness Make You Stronger, eh? ;) [/Against Me]
Adrenaline Whore.
Tear Mean Streak: The reasons are there. It has very low ridership, and it costs tons of moneyto maintain. Most people wouldn't even recognize it being gone. It's not a main attraction, or it doesn't have that classic feel like BS or Gemini does. Plus most people don't like, it's slow, rough, and boring to most. Plus it's way in the back of the park where the are hardly any other rides.
Keep Mean Streak: Probably the most important point on either side, to have the world record. It's huge to be able to market that little line. It is only one of two woodies at the park, but at this point, I don't think that matters to CF. Plus it is a gorgeous coaster, and it does have its fans (few and far between). Even though it doesn't have too many riders, it does help trim down the lines (extremely slightly) for TTD and MF.
I wouldn't count on it being tore down unless they replaced it with at least one coaster. Me personally, I don't care, I don't really ever go back there.
