How Holiday World Could Be Improved

...but when the temperatures begin to soar, how happy the Midwest will be with ZOOOOOOOMbabwe!  Oh, and an improved Legend with 2 spankin' new PTC's.  I think for a park its size, HW has gone all out this year with general park-goers and enthusiasts alike.  Count me in for SRM '02...and I don't see the Koch family as giving up on the park anytime in the foreseeable (or unforeseeable) future.

I agree with everybody and love the Raven and Legend. However, I believe a state of art wheel like the Millenium Wheel could be marketed as a major draw. Especially if set down in that valley between the two coasters, it would really offer a stunning view of the park, the coasters, and the area beyond.

I don't think an e-mail OR a nasty letter is in order.

Just in case you're wondering...When I come across a post that involves HW, I always print it out and route it to the Kochs and our staff of directors. So for something like this, there's no need to send a separate letter or email (unless you'd like to).
Please know that we don't get offended by suggestions. We want to know what people think we need to add next. We do lots of in-park surveys with guests, plus take into consideration all the Comments Cards, emails, letters, posts and phone calls.
But, as has been brought up by a few in this thread...we also need to look at marketability. And where in the park is there more capacity needed? This year, hands down, the answer was Splashin' Safari.
We certainly know there are a few holes that need to be filled in our line-up of rides. Stay tuned...we won't disappoint!
Happy New Year!  Paula

Is Raven getting a second train too? Or is that not as popular so it doesn't get long lines?

No, since Raven's circuit is shorter, we're sticking with the single train.

Thanks,  Paula

Maybe they could move closer to Chicago. :)

I sure wish that Six Flags would get some people like Raven Maven from HW to take in suggestions and stuff. They obviously don't care about their guests.

MFRules23 - while I agree that Holiday World is in a league of their own when it comes to communicating with the coaster community I know for a fact that other parks read C-buzz and other forums.  Just because they don't post doesn't mean they don't care what we or their guests say.
SF may read these forums but they still don't care about their guests. But that isn't the case for many other parks like Busch Gardens for Example

While I have no clue what it takes to run a park and realize new attractions need to have "marketability" I none-the-less have an opinion of what I would love the park to add over the next 10 years:

1. Sally dark ride in the Halloween section...right on that large grassy knoll between Raven & Legend.

2. Master Blaster water slide in the waterpark.

3. Spinning mouse in the Christmas section. Cars can be themed to Santa's sleighs, supports can be candy cane striped.

4. Some classic flat rides, including a carousel, ferris wheel, whip, and a Music Express.  I'd also love to see a ride like Kennywood's Kangaroo...the manufacturer calls it a "flying coaster" but I thought I'd confuse people with that term.

5. CCI dogleg out-and-back, station in the 4th of July section.

The only problems with rides like the Whip and Flying Coaster, is that they are no longer made. The most recent of the classic rides brought back was the Whip, that was built by a company called RIDEWORKS back in 1999 (for HersheyPark), who have now since gone under. No one has attempted the flying coaster for a while, but In '84, I rode a similar ride at a county fair.

The problem with dark rides is the vandalism. No matter how nice you make your rides, someone always comes along and messes with it. Thats why Knoebles has a seperate admission for it

Well, if I could tackle my Holiday Wish List, I would include the Carousel and Giant Wheel in my plans. The Carousel would be Christmas themed and the Wheel would be Fourth of July themed and include a Fireworks-like animation for its light package. Both rides would be built by Chance Rides of Kansas.

I would go for an Arrow Mad Mouse as a family steel coaster, since typically, domestic rides are more inexpensive.

In the flat rides dept., I would add a Chance Yo Yo, Wisdom Tornado, and a Dartron Cliffhanger (a lay-down Paratrooper)

A spinning mouse would be the perfect addition. I've been on half-a-dozen mice, but Kennywood's Reverchon spinning mouse is, without question, the best of the breed. It's a different ride every time. It's a relatively inexpensive type of coaster that gives a much more interesting ride than a traditional mouse.

I've said it before, I'll say it again (too late for Paramount)....If it's not Reverchon, it's just a mouse!

What about a bobsled from Mack that could be themed to Santa's Sled?

I'm sure that with the right amount of money those rides could be produced again.

A spinning mouse is wicked fun, and would make an excellent "reindeer ride."

John Peck:  There are a few whips SBNO that HW could purchase and refurbish.  Yes, it would be pricey and hard to market but they're just so much dang fun!  BTW I've ridden the Hershey Whip...if that was an example of work Rideworks was doing its no wonder they went out of business.  It was THE WORST Whip I've ever been on.

As for the Flying Coaster I was under the impression that Larkin made a version?  I seem to recall a thread on the coaster news group about that not too long ago.

Anyway knowing Holiday World I'm sure they'll continue to impress us year after year.

Mamoosh,

I agree that Hershey's Whip is the worst whip I have ridden. Moxahala has a Whip that is still standing. Maybe this could be refurbished. It has been kept under a roof all of these years. I definately want a Carousel and a Ferris Wheel. I would also like to see a CCI wooden Wild Mouse coaster at the park someday. I am sure CCI could build a Wild Mouse out of wood.

The Whip at Hershey is a real drag, so you guys are definitely on to something with finding an older one and refurbishing it.

A CCI wooden Mouse sounds awesome.  Maybe that isn't too big of a jump from the Superstition Mountain project.

CCI will build a wooden mouse when a park requests one.
