How do I make a text link?

I've searched for a solution and have messed around with this a bit, but I can't get a text link to work.

I see it commonly... click here, where here is the underlined blue link.

I thought I was in the right direction by highlighting "here" and then clicking the "link" button. But, I just get a small box that pops up that I can't do anything with. It's not clickable, I can't paste into it; I can't drag pages into it. It only lets me move the box, adjust its size, or close it.

Please help; I need this new skill. :-[

What browser are you using? Version?

This happened to me the other day, but I use two PCs side-by-side at home so I tried the other PC and it worked fine. I just checked the browser versions (both Firefox): it didn't work on 19.0.2, and worked on 20.0. However, I just checked again today on version 19.0.2 and it worked fine, too. I never tried closing/relaunching the browser, which could have been a possible fix.

That's how you are supposed to do it, Jeph.

It's likely a caching issue. I don't know why some browsers hang on to old files like that. If you hold down shift and click refresh a few times, the problem should go away.

First off, I'm glad it was just a browser/cache issue. I had been feeling like a rookie every long link I posted. :)

Secondly, I still can't get it to work on Google Chrome, Version 26.0.1410.43 m. I tried doing the shift/refresh trick several times. Then, I cleared all cookies, temporary internet files, and history files; I restarted the computer a few times. No go.

Then, I tried one of my laptops that I rarely post from. It was Google Chrome, Version 25.0.1364.172 m. It worked perfectly, and I finally got to see what this frustrating blank box was supposed to be.

I get why you like to keep things simple now; making everything work for all the different browsers and versions sounds annoying.

I've had three users on our data system call for support in the past week after installing IE10 and causing a subsequent loss of functionality. Delightfully, 2 different experiences were reported - obviously neither good, or I wouldn't have gotten a call. Even with an IT support job, I can't seem to get UF to give me access to IE10 on a machine at work so I can figure out the cause(s), or differences in user experience. From home, IE10 works fine, but the security makes that almost irrelevant. Really hard to get social workers to give good information on their OS, browser, network controls, etc. At least (most?) - we can require that everyone use IE...

"Annoying"? Well, it's work.... ;~)

It's not a browser version issue, I just wanted to rule that out. It's a caching issue. If you're in a corporate environment, the caching could happen somewhere on that network, too.

Believe it or not, getting stuff to work on most browsers isn't that hard anymore. And honestly, I don't care if it doesn't work on IE6. Not my problem. :)

Hmmm...I'm on a home network. Any other ideas how I can fix this caching issue?

Update: Now working as of 4/17. 8-)
